The Positive Sides About Being Closeted

I tend to be my worst critic and my consience has this very strong voice. So it came the time when having secret affairs/bf/adventures was taking too much energy. I mean, leading a life is demanding, leading a double life is even worst. I started by telling my friends, then my brother and then my parents. Still "on the closet" with the distant relatives and co-workers, but those are people that honestly doesn't count for much in my live.

Another reason for comming out of the closet was, funny as it is, the fear of been outed. My escapades where getting progresively riskier (for example, nearly got arrested by the police for having sex on public places... was able to smooth talk my way out of the arrest). So I decided that I rather come out in a controlled enviroment than been outed by someone else or worse.

You living your life on the edge :lol: Coming out in a controlled enviroment is so much better indeed.

I think there are positive sides to being in the closet. I came out two years ago to friends and family but not co-workers. When I used to be in the closet people (well guys) treated me differently. We'd joke more often and there was no "mamcitas" or "look at that ass" comments. It was just fun. After I came out I decided that if someone asked I wouldn't deny it but I won't broadcast it either. So after a certain while some knew and didn't. I noticed that the guys I used to joke around with didn't act the same way they used to. I don't know if it's just because they "grew up" or they just felt uncomfortable joking with a gay person.
