The post something funny thread

The truth of the pull of the sun ultimately being outside it, or moved outside it by either motion of the bodies or the net effect of the sun vs. competing forces, STILL refutes that the Sun orbits the Earth.

It doesn't. It's force is affected slightly by the competing forces of other pulls within range, but it doesn't change the fact that the Earth orbits the sun. No one made the specific point that the Earth orbits a fixed point in the center of the Sun.

We orbit the sun's gravity, whether displaced or within it. We are pulled along, as we both travel through space, in a spiraling arc around the sun. The sun is NOT in a spiraling arc around us. It may move in a smaller motion around some nearby locus, but it is still, essentially, at the center of our gyre.

That was never in question.

As I said, this is basic physics: in any two-body system, both bodies orbit their common center of mass, called the barycenter. In Jupiter's case, that point is outside the sun, while in Earth's case it is near the sun's center.

It's physics/astronomy humor, so you have to know physics and astronomy.

Moving on....
