This reminds me of a Little Lulu comic book I had when I was a kid. The setting was the dorm sleeping room at a girls' camp at night. An owl hoots outside, and Lulu says "Who said who?" Then someone asks "Who said 'who said who?'" and the questioning continues on, each time with someone adding another "Who said...?"

On a somewhat related note, there was a high school named Wharton in the school district where I once taught. I thought about doing a play on the title of the Dr. Seuss book, and changing it to "Wharton Hears The Who."
