^Knowing megachurch youth ministers, I have zero belief that those banners, if not Photoshopped, were unintentional. Obscenity by implication is not off the table for churches claiming to reach people today and allegedly trying to turn the culture from what it is. I've seen these mental gymnastics up close. It is very similar to seeing JUB members cheer the burning of a church.

They're not photoshopped. And your assumption about trendy youth ministers is correct.

The photo is an UNM and it's a promotion by a church you might be familiar with- Citizen Church (formerly First Family Church).

 
No, I had no familiarity with Fundamentalist churches in Albuquerque. The patterns I observed were back in Arkansas in small towns, which nonetheless exhibited the same lack of ethics in youth work that you cite. I believe hundreds of "leaders" evolved to have the same views in parallel, as much as being led there.

After generations of criticizing situational ethics in Progressives, they have turned to them as their go-to themselves.
