This is the same principle I've seen used at a local street painting (chalk drawing) festival. The idea is to create a picture where the proportions will look correct AS SEEN THROUGH A CELL PHONE VIEWER OR TELESCOPIC LENS, NOT as you would see it looking down directly at it. From the standpoint of the naked eye, all you will see is a weirdly distorted image, but if you look through a cell phone viewer, the proportions fall magically in place, and you see the intended picture.
