The Queen is Dead. Long live the King.

Yes, I'm sure Charles will keep that 30-ft. ermine train as low-key as possible. As long as he doesn't flounce it, I doubt people will find him audacious.

I just saw on Entertainment Tonight that there is a special about Queen Elizabeth on CW Saturday. They showed outtakes where she was playing the tea cups with Paddignton Bear

Queen Elizabeth II: The Woman Behind The Crown

There are some interesting things coming from the program. Here they are . . .

she had a train car just for her hats

If the Queen moves her handbag from one hand to the other, it means she wants to move on
If it was on the floor, she wanted to get out of that situation immediately

She expressed herself through her clothing

The Imperial State Crown will be re-sized for Charles

Family worth is 28 billion. She has $442 million. Prince William is worth $40 million. Prince Harry is worth $60 million.

Charles gave Duchy of Cormwall properties to Prince William. Its worth 1.2 billion dollars!!!!

Spice Girls Mel B and Ginger Spice kissed Prince Charles. Ginger Spice told him he was very sexy and patted him on the bum.

She referred to Daniel Craig as "the one that doesnt smile"

When Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister she was worried that when she and the Queen had to attend a big formal event they might turn up accidentally wearing similar frocks. So she sent the Queen two lists of colours and patterns with a memo suggesting that if the event was to take place on an even-numbered date Thatcher would base her outfit on list A and the Queen would base hers on list B, and if it was on an odd-numbered date then vice versa, so they would never clash. The Queen's secretary sent it back with a note saying "Her Majesty does not take any notice of how other people are dressed". Translation: I'm the Queen, don't tell me what I can and can't wear, you oik!
:spank:

^ Not surprised Thatchs would be that stupid, aside the fact she would be doing that to The Queen... not surprised people would make that up about her more private matters, given how stupid she could get in public... and while in public service.

@m1thousand Most of the revenue from the Duchy of Cornwall goes to the state, so although the Prince of Wales is officially responsible for the administration of the estate, it does not follow that Prince William is worth 1.8 billion.

Most? As I understand it, the PoW pays a version of Income Tax on Duchy income net of expenditure.

Wow! Just wow. And to think how kind the Queen was to the late Prime Minister when she entered her dotage.

So shall we conclude that discussion above, concerning royals and imperialism, by saying that poor Lilibeth gave some shine to a rotten institution, and that said institution rather dirtied her person...

^ What does that "III" mean, third best player ever after Messi and Pelé? (Maradona is God, not a player :LOLZ: )

Oh, wait, sorry, that's just Charles III

Christ. Now he has to break in another PM.

Only a month or so into the job.

FT Weekend carried an article on the Queen's wardrobe that observed that few of the pictures of her over the decades that were published and broadcast after her death showed her during the broad shoulder era of the eighties (I guess it was the eighties), because this was the least successful her looks. The first picture certainly confirms this judgment.

I've read that Charles III may have looked like an idiot, but he wasn't and was actually quite a good ruler, whereas his son, Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies--who closely resembles him--really was. You probably know--but others reading this might not--that Charles's mother, Elizabeth Farnese, brought her family's great collection of antiquities to the Bourbons, which is why they are now in Naples. The collection was first assembled by Pope Paul III Farnese, from whom Elizabeth was descended.
