The Queen is Dead. Long live the King.

^ My take exactly.

He is a spoiled man-boy who really has no talent for King-ing. He is a seat filler at best and the likely end of his dynasty at best.

He was never dynamic, or personable. He got the worst qualities of his tribe, with none of the things that would make him loveable or at least tolerable. He and his doxy Camilla will be a footnote to history and unless William and Kate get out there and start rainsing the roof, they are absolutely the last of the monarchs in GB.

And Saint Elizabeth Regina would have nothing to do with that.

That death was DEFINITELY one true sign of the incoming apocalypse.

Just finished watching the new season of The Crown - it’s jumping the shark for me but anyway he’s presented as a modern progressive who wants to change the monarchy
(and much more liberal polititically then his mom she loves PM Major he loves PM Blair) and only his mom to fucking retire -and for this reason his mom would never retire - she likes things as they are.

The magnificent drama "To play the king" features Michael Kitchen as an obvious allusion to Charles, who Ian Richardson - as prime minister Frances Urquhart - forces to abdicate.

Please just remember that The Crown is made up shit.

Like all "historical" stuff, and most "history" shit, only in this case there are many more people in the audience who are aware of all the absurdities.

What a melancholy portrait. He looks like someone who's weary of life rather than looking to the future. The full picture is even worse. The greyish-brown tweed and the rolling acres of beige corduroy trouser are the same tone as the big dead tree that dominates the photo. He looks like he wants to die too and be dug into the ground as compost. I've a feeling that's how he'd like his remains to be disposed of.

As little as I am of a monarchist, Charles deserves more credit than to be judged by his outward appearance at his age. After all, Elizabeth would have been regarded wholly differently if she had ascended the throne in her dotage, after a lifetime in the shadows as heir apparent.

How futuristic can a 74-year-old look?

The association with Gloriana is a royal's trope, and required to be Head of The Firm.

Perhaps some of you have seen the 2014 stage play King Charles III. Charles threatens to refuse to sign a bill limiting freedom of the press thereby creating a constitutional crisis, Harry takes up with a black anti-monarchist, and Kate orchestrates a coup that places William on the throne. Very entertaining.

I know the crown is made up shit - with a few historically accurate truths thrown in- Charles is portrayed as a liberal progressive thinker - they mention The Princes Trust for example - and I always though he was more of a conservative traditionalist then his Mom

They almost made it :(

So where is this room? The decor is atrocious. I know JC is tall, but Charles seems particularly short, doesn't he? I was once told that when pictures are taken, he stands forward a bit in order to look taller, which he seems to be doing here.
