A raccoon has been coming around my place and here is a video of the latest encounter. Shout out to Mr Raccoon for the pose :-)

There have been four times that a raccoon has been around my place. It's the garbage sitting outside on a bench that is bringing him here. Im putting the garbage in a garbage can now (which is missing a lid but its under the bench)

My cat goes out during the day on a tether so he can run around. He's on a tether so he doesn't wander away and get eaten by a coyote like my last cat.

I've googled raccoon repellants and I'll be getting something so the raccoon isn't around. He's a savage little beast but its cute when he stood up in the video

A mother raccoon and her babies come by here eating the cat food we put out. The babies are sure prissy little bitches.

Fact: I've NEVER seen a raccoon in my life.

Also, that trip to the States in 2010 was the first and only time I've ever seen a chipmunk.

What else have I never seen.... moose, bear, alligator, buffalo, armadillo, beaver, wolf.

U.K. back garden wildlife is pretty much hedgehogs, moles, badgers, and the occasional fox.

I caught one of these in my kitchen once.

He had escaped from the local zoo. I had a hard job getting him into the cat box; I had my oven gloves on and a spatula.

We used to have a pet raccoon when I was a kid. My oldest brother was in the army and would sleep in a sleeping bag on a cot. The bag would hang over the end of the cot and he found a baby raccoon sleeping in the overhang. He kept it as a pet and brought it home with him. We called him Zorro. He used to ride on our shoulders or would drape himself around our necks. When he became a full adult, we took him into the woods near our house and let him go free.

^ I used to watch that when I didn't have cable and got only 3 stations.

Are you sure your cat is safe with that raccoon around?

^ Cats and possums seem to co-exist. But I occasionally hear screeches in the night.

I agree that it's "cute" that the raccoon stood up, but why were you tossing wood at the raccoon? Seems like it would just keep coming back anyway. Hope it's not somebody else's property your wood pieces were landing into.

WHat was that noise at 1:05 (about)? Did your neighbour throw something at the raccoon?

I had a raccoon messin' with my plants in my shade house...killed it, .22.

Because its a raccoon. I looked today and I might have hit a clay pot. Ill have a talk with the neighbour (who might be wondering why Im throwing wood onto her property)

Its cleaning itself like dogs and cats do lol. I guess it makes sense but we just usually dont see a raccoon cleaning itself

From about two weeks ago. My cat is sitting on the fence as he does and a raccoon is also on the fence. The raccoon goes up the tree. Hard to see video . .

Well it did sound like you broke something. Talking with your neighbor might be a good idea.

Both can be seen in my yard, at some point, during any given year.

There is actually a fox population around here, though I had never seen one in the wild until only about four years ago.
