Is it a criticism? I mean they could have released this literally a year ago+. Just an observation.

maybe they could have......but for a federal police agency like the RCMP to release this it is incredible.

If you don't understand this then you don't understand much about gay rights.

and you're damn ignorant of Canada.

^^^ I'm not going to sit here and be insulted by you. Bye.

how is something that is true an insult.

I wish this thread had moved along better then it did.

ok back to topic officers of the RCMP have made a tape for the "It Get's Better" program

The RCMP is the latest group to create a video in the "It Gets Better" theme -- aimed primarily at youth. Championed by the Surrey RCMP Youth Unit, the 20 participants taped interviews in the summer of 2012. The video was finalized, by BC RCMP Multi-media services in the fall of 2012.

The video features adults who share their stories of their struggles, with the aim of building a bridge of understanding for youth undergoing similar experiences. Each of the participants tell moving and candid stories of their doubts, fears, and struggles, and their eventual joy of knowing that life, indeed, does get better.

Support for the project was received from police officers and civilian employees across the Lower Mainland of British Columbia including Surrey, Burnaby, UBC, Richmond, the Integrated Homicide Investigations Team, BC RCMP Major Crime, and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit -- BC (CFSEU-BC).

While their individual stories vary the messages are personal, powerful and inspiring.

The police in my country are OK. Most of the inner-city police stations have an officer trained to handle gay issues

Glad to hear that.

but Pat how does pertain to our federal police force aka The RCMP releasing a 'It's get better" video.

The RCMP releasing an 'It's get better" video is a most excellent thing and I see that support for the project was received from police officers and civilian employees across a very great area. ..|

PeTe, You know how much I love your country, (almost as much as I love you).
I also think the RCMP are awesome!
Remember, the Mounties ALWAYS get their man! :D

Still, I'm so proud of my mounties. WE may be a little slow, but we're sincere. A few years back a couple of gay mounties got married in New Brunswick and no one gave a shit except the U.S. media. As a matter of fact, when a CNN reporter asked an old timer what he thought of two men getting married he said, and I quote, "It's none of your fucking business. Get outta here and stop causing trouble." Or something like that. It was hysterical.

Well I think it is fucking great and best of all......it is an in depth and caring look at what kids are going through instead of a crafted 1 minute sound bite commercial.
