Yes, you read it right. Those wacky republicans are now at war with nipples.

A republican from North Carolina, Rayne Brown, introduced a bill making exposure of a woman's nipple a felony.

The proposed legislation, House Bill 34, would make it a Class H felony to expose "external organs of sex and of excretion, including the nipple, or any portion of the areola, of the human female breast."

The Republican War On Women continues. First the womb, then the vagina and now it's tits. Won't be long until republicans want American women to wear Burkas.

THE AMERICAN TALIBAN IN ACTION.

Yes, no doubt, burqas are next. But don't they hate Sharia Law?

That fucking political party needs to DIE. Now.

NEXT IN LINE: War On Homosexuals, a la Vladamir Putin's efforts in Russia. (Does anybody know if Putin is consorting with AMERICAN evangelicals, in putting these laws into effect?)

If you're gay and live in North Carolina, move out - NOW.

I'm glad Oregon has constitutionally protected freedom of expression -- total nudity is legal in public, so long as you don't do anything provocative or lewd.

That sounds like the devil is in the details.

In my mind one should be able to be provocative with another willing adult. And lewdness should be defined narrowly.

I keep going back to the experience of finding a heterosexual couple in a utility closet. They made some effort to be unobtrusive. There was no possible risk of children stumbling across them. They were certainly provoking each other. And i wished them well. I don't want that kind of behaviour considered scandalous let alone criminal. Two people on a beach or under the stars really should be left alone, provided they didn't pick the children's playground for their antics.

Lewdness is defined rather narrowly -- it has to consist in some activity that most people would consider intended to draw attention to the genitals. In general, any action that one would engage in when clothed that wouldn't be considered lewd then isn't considered lewd when unclothed. And when only adults are present, more latitude is given.

I'm probably even less uptight about it. I discovered a couple of straight people fucking. They weren't doing it to offend me or belittle me. They were just two horny people looking for a moment. I couldn't take myself seriously if I had been scandalized even though their actions were obvious and their genitals could not escape attention. If they had picked a table in the middle of the food court, maybe I'd feel it was more intrusive, but I honestly didn't give a fuck. I would want a law that takes the same attitude.

A gay marriage ban was among the first things they did when they took power.
Plus,to make extra sure it would pass, they rushed it through and put it on the ballot in a primary race, when more Republicans were likely to come out to vote, which they did.
They truly are out of control.

No, they just finally caught up with the Democrats' Chicago machine politics.

I'm glad I ruled out Raleigh as a place I wanted to live a long time ago.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone: We've had a lot of recent victories, but don't let that lull you into a false sense of security.

And, what is so offensive about a nipple anyway?

The law will get shot down as unconstitutional because public breastfeeding is legal in all of the USA by Congressional law.

Could they perhaps restrict the law's enforcement to any nipple exposure without the connection to breastfeeding? Almost like how Oregon allows public nudity except in cases of sexual provocation?

Weren't they covering the statue of Justice for that reason during Bush?

Why are people like that not laughed out of politics?

I believe that was Attorney General John Ashcroft.

I want your nipple.

I remember that! Just for fun and satire, Obama's folks should have furnished the statue with a neon merkin and pasties.

Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, Hickory, and Asheville were ALL among places considered on my "unlikely" list (I.E. SECOND-TIER, less likely than first tier) of places I may end up retiring to.

I consider my FIRST TIER list to cover about 85% of my probabilities of where I'll end up, the SECOND-TIER list covers the remaining 15% odds. Both lists combined include a total of fewer than 20 places.

There is no way in hell I'd consider any of those places now. If I were to come up with a ranked list of my favorite-to-least-favorite 50 States, North Carolina has plummeted at least 30 in that list in the past two years. It's ALL because of the absurd and regressive politics.

Making this whole thing even more absurd, I've seen a picture of the makeover. The old style did NOT show a breast - it only exposed kind of a triangle of "skin" (and it was a crude pastel-colored drawing). No cleavage, nothing like that.
