The Return of Karma

It was interesting to watch some of the interviews from Kentucky last week where people had their homes wiped out by a massive tornado. A common refrain was, "Thanks to God, we survived!". I found myself thinking, "Well, who do you think sent that tornado?".

I find myself thinking this and many other similar things every time I hear one of them. Do they also think "God" killed the people who died in the tornado? I am assuming the power goes both ways?

The thing is - IF "God" can save you - does that mean he killed you in case you died?

- and, of course, the obvious one - what if "God" worked though the scientists to help them develop the vaccine? - and you refused "God's help"?

^ It's all about faith: again, it's not about the sky and a fairy in it, it's about YOU, and you believing. Call it arrogant, self-centered stubborness, if you find it more accurate, and less offensive to true faith and the true idea of "God".

Faith is just as unbelievable as a sky fairy
Believe in what you like but it won't save you

Yesterday one of those street preachers was banging on and saying that if you don't believe in god you will go to hell
Of course the very obvious hole in that hypothesis is that if you don't believe in god you don't believe in hell so it has no validity

That's the wordly emptiness of faith: faith is not only overrated, it is perversely tricky and dangerous, because faith, belief in whatever, saying something is true, "following your heart"... does not say anything about the qualities and consequences of what you are validating so highly. You can have "faith" in murder through a "cause" that you call salvation... actually, precisely what antivaxx is about.

No, the logic is that you do not believe in something that truly exists independently of your not believing... but you are right in that you can not be afraid of something that you can not conceive and, therefore, in which you do not believe... which is EXACTLY the position of those who try to reason with antivaxxers, or with those who wrap up in the concept of "God" their own overbearing, righteous and stubborn self-centeredness.

Another impending opening for a pastor...

Paul Oebel, age 63. Founder/CEO Faith Unveiled Network. Anti-vaxxer. Evangelical conspirary theories. Has COVID-19. Currently circling the drain in the ICU on a ventilator.

Why does Facebook allow people to tell lies like, "more people are dying of the vaccine than are dying of COVID"?

So, if your cousin dies of COVID-19, wouldn't you think, "Oh, I should get vaccinated so that this doesn't happen to me!"? Not Paul.

If anyone quotes Candace Owens, Thomas Massie or any of the lunatic caucus, they are way down the conspiracy freeway:

Or if they quote Mike Lindell:

Or seditionist Mike Flynn:

Thank you but you can stuff your vaccine lies and your prayers:

Why get a vaccine when there's... um... hydrogen?

Promoting "get the virus instead of the vaccine". I wonder how that will work out for Paul.

The inevitable "urgent prayer request":

If God is in control, he's making it pretty clear that he has no time for idiots.

I am surprised that COVID could survive in such a hostile plastic environment.

And, like all end-of-the-world deadlines, it will be kept being pushed...
