  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention The Rise of the Lurkers

I am currently finding it difficult to maintain any interest in JUB, example in Celebrity request and fakes (no totally correct title, sorry) lately there have been thousands of twinks of whom their fame is hardly notable. I love fakes but give me something truly interesting to look at. Second, it am constantly amazed at the thread titles or questions. Too many just do not make sense or have any redeeming value, Third, I spend more time in Hot Topics that on the main page, that did not use to be so. Four, it always amazes me, that there do not seem to be any real celebrities on JUB or people like me who have worked in the industry as a photographer/cameraman for forty years. Once in a great while I will get a question about a celeb and I answer in the private message, and I will usually get one or two responses then nothing, nothing and more nothing or worst I get accused of lying when I have answered truthfully. It is like no one really wants to know a celeb has gotten it on with his brother, or co-star, or even his own children (of age). So I find I response less and less but I keep coming to JUB as I have for a very long time. Hope springs eternal. But I am old and I will not live too much longer. I will say on a positive note that the thread Splendour in Top Topics is the most glorious thread I have ever seen on the web. So I will keep coming until I die and keep hope to see a fake of Chris O'Donnell rimming Eric Christian Olsen ass, or sucking his cock, and bottoming for Eric, or the same with Tom Welling with John Schneider in Chris's actions. Terrible lost of arith....... faker. With all due respect!!!!!

Wow, thanks for the compliment.

Link provided for all those interested, it's good to have somewhere peaceful to view and post when HT turns into an egofest.

I have no theories, but I can speak for myself: I see a lot of posts to which I could only reply with a statement I have made before, or a statement very similar to that of someone else. So I say nothing.

I must admit that after 10 years here I often feel that I don't have anything new to add. Especially when the subject is something I have already replied to.

I've also been reading and posting less. Part of the reason is because I'm busy, and part of it is that there simply haven't been many threads that have interested me. Sometimes I pop into a thread just to see what people are saying, but I don't post unless I really have something to say.

Oh, and there aren't nearly enough bewbs in HT.

A lot of time I also find myself reading rather than posting if only because of time constraints. I do, however, like the Fun and Games thread, and always try to find time to contribute to that, and have started to try and contribute to the Moving Pics and Cum shot Clips threads. All great fun.

Hotrich.

As for posting new threads I am dried up, I am sure that one day I will get the juices flowing again.

As for lurking, I find myself doing that more than I did at one time, I come up with an answer or response to a post and then before I start to type I say "screw it", it will either be ignored or some one will nail me for a grammatical error or just want to argue.

Same here. I have a bad habit of rereading my posts, hating how I worded it and delete.
Writing succinctly or coherently isn't my gift.

I've always been more of a reader than a poster when it comes to HT, but there seems to be an increasing number of cretinous threads started by a small handful of individuals which I don't even bother to open. That doesn't explain the point Jason raised, as I view (or lurk) less than ever.

I read a lot of the threads in HT but seldom post, mostly because I don't have anything different to add, but a lot of times I don't reply because I don't feel like having a few people start their usual shit stirring

So if I read you guys correctly I joined JUB after it jumped the shark. Wish I could go back a few years and spend time with you guys and the legendary JUBers gone by.

Based on my online experiences from 2003 to 2005, maybe the web itself has jumped the shark. The activity profile noted by NotHardUp1 may be the notice that newer web users view legacy sites like JUB as a curiosity - look but don't reply.

Since 2012 I've heard many webbies proclaim the future of online is "face to face", where online is just a formality to personal hookups. But I don't think so. "The Lurkers" may indicate users wanting additional degrees of separation - not the future some expect.

I joined three years before you and some old stagers were saying JUB ain't what it used to be then, too. There'll be another golden age in due course, it's all part of life's rich tapestry.

Can't say I blame 'em, why risk starting a 1000 page quote pyramid of back & forth bitching all because you looked at some butt-hurt member the wrong way because you didn't phrase something the way THEY would have, or because you brought up a topic that got everyone's sensie's in a tizzy.

Indeed my post in this thread lead to me getting a snide comment from Buzzer. #-o

I asked the Admin once and he plainly said it did not record repeat visits by the same user. I always doubted that.

The JUB system does record repeat-visits by the same user, if the repeat visits take place during different online sessions or if a new post is added and the user revisits the modified thread.

If you compare with youtube views and replies the story is the same.
Lots of views, very little replies.

YouTube also records duplicate views by the same user, if the views take place during different online sessions.

During the workweek I follow some of you guys cuz I like reading your posts, but I don't logon.

Sometimes I don't comment to a thread because I feel that I don't have the experience to add to it. Other times I am afraid to comment because I don't want to get jumped. I also have a little less time and some of the topics don't interest me anymore, but I am also not signing on as much, so I don't know if my ratio has really changed. This answer probably didn't add much information to the original question and I was tempted to just skip commenting at all, which would have made me a lurker.
