I remember those days and the horror stories which came from them. Back then, pregnancy without marriage, either consensual or through rape, was one of the worst things which could happen to a young lady. There was such a stigma attached to it that the young ladies went to great extremes to prevent anyone, even their parents, from finding out. There was nowhere for them to go. No one to help them.

Banning abortions will not stop them and it's foolish to think that the ban is actually doing something good.

Prohibition was thought to be doing something good, and we all know how well that went over.

Banning abortions will dramatically reduce the numbers. We cannot stop murders and rape but that is not a valid argument for legallizing them.

We all know what the facts are and the argument cannot be won by changing the words. Nor a baby, just sub human cells does not end the matter. We are all just a few cells for that matter, and totalitarians always use subhuman argument to justify killing. 60 million American children have been killed and the democrats have blocked all attempts to prevent it.

You're the one changing the words -- it's a form of lying common to those trying to put over an agenda without respect for facts. To say "60 million American children have been killed" is to lie blatantly, because until there are recognizable human brainwaves there is no child, because a child can experience and respond, which means brainwaves showing that level of complexity.

Now, if you said, "60 million potential citizens", you'd be entirely accurate. But then you'd have to take the next step and recognize that statistically, the elimination of those potential citizens has actually served to preserve the white majority because it has slowed the growth of the black population far more than the growth of the white population.

No actually sentient human beings are not all just a few cells. These pre lifeforms have no sentience, intelligence or personhood and have as much of these things as a jar of paste. Now in the later stages of the womb when sentience and personhood has developed then yes one it becomes a child it should be protected however in these early stages of the womb these protoplasms are not children. Again Benvolio science is not on your side and when it comes to abortion I don't see you being ok with providing welfare and wic to all of these children and have to spend money on them. Again the fact is according to science abortion is not murder.

There are not enough adoptive couples even if they were. There are 127,000 to 135,00 adoptions total annually in the US. 15 percent of those are infant adoptions. There are about 1.2 MILLION abortions in the US in 2005. If every willing adoptive couple took a child it still would not be enough and what about the existing numbers of already living children in the foster care system waiting to be adopted, they just get to be screwed eh?

You do realize the reason why there are fewer illegal abortions is because of Roe making legal abortions available. That will change if the social conservatives have their way.

A quick Google search tells me that abortion was legalised in 1973 (Roe v Wade). Richard Nixon, a Republican, was president then. Since 1973, there have been 4 more Republican presidents. There have been only 3 (that's THREE) Democratic presidents.

Just how are the Democrats responsible for it? Why are they the culprits?

No it is a matter of science which is not on the side of conservatives. Any given animal has more intelligence, sentience and personhood then these pre life forms and I don't see pro lifers running out to be vegetarians. Again according to science a fetus/embryo/cluster of cells is not a life. It becomes one late in the womb but in the earlier stages terminating said thing is not murder.

2. While Europe may have a demographics problem, the planet as a whole is more in danger of being overpopulated to ruin. We're about four and a half billion people beyond what the planet can really handle.

The vast bulk of children in developed nations are being avoided by users of contraception. Not abortion.
