Snaps I don't think you have disproved the heart of Chance's assertion which is the the Iraq war was a bipartisan effort. Chance may have slightly overstated his case by saying all the major dems voted for it but by the standards of Washington today this is a bipartisan war and I would never vote for anyone, reguardless of party, who voted to give Bush the authority to do what we all knew he would do.

The criticism, exclusive to republicans, is how the war was fought. They managed that without any democratic help at all.

Here's the ad that Maltese try to post earlier:

As a life long Memphian, I can honestly say that as for Harold Ford, Jr., he comes from a family of corrupt politicians.

Harold Ford, Sr.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Ford,_Sr.

John Ford (Harold Ford, Jr.'s uncle):

Arrested for:
1) Shooting at a truck driver while driving over 100 mph.
2) Pulling a gun on a work crew for Memphis Light Gas and Water

A bill which he sponsored changing the way in which child support payments were figured was of great benefit to him personally, due to the complex nature of his personal life - He has children by at least 3 different women.

He used campaign funds to pay for a daughter's rather elaborate wedding reception.

Ophelia Ford (John Ford's sister; Harold Ford, Jr.'s aunt):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophelia_Ford

John Ford resigned his senate seat after he was indicted in Operation Tennessee Waltz. Ophelia Ford ran for her brother's state senate seat and defeated Henri Brooks by 20 votes in the special Democratic primary. Ophelia Ford went on to defeat Republican candidate Terry Roland by 13 votes in the special general election. Both elections fell under allegations of improprieties. In the special general election, a state senate election committee confirmed 12 of the 13 votes were invalid. Names of deceased persons and felons were found on the rolls, and dozens of additional votes were counted from voters living outside the district. Further investigation of the election revealed that one of the election officials purportedly certifying the name of many of the voters in question was actually in New York City the day of the election and that her place was taken, without authorization, by a relative.

Does the apple fall from the tree...?

This thread was about the Republicans' racist smearing of Ford. However, you seem to want to hit his family. Fair enough. Here's another famous family, and this family raises your question, too: Does the apple fall from the tree...?

Alfie, don't forget Laura Bush. How could we ever forget her killing that young man on a desolate West Texas highway, and just driving off leaving the corpse to be eaten by the circling vultures.

Funny, Texas has one of the highest capital punishment rates in the country, but somehow she eluded even prosecution.

Twisting the facts, as usual...

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Details in a 1963 accident report say that Laura Bush, then 17, ran a stop sign in the Texas crash that killed a friend in another car. The report, adding information to previous reports of the crash, was released to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Mrs. Bush now is the wife of Republican presidential nominee-to-be George W. Bush, the Texas governor.

''It was a very tragic accident that deeply affected the families and was very painful for all involved, including the community at large,'' said Mrs. Bush's spokesman, Andrew Malcolm. ''To this day, Mrs. Bush remains unable to talk about it.''

She did say in March, when asked at a campaign stop about the crash, ''I know this as an adult, and even more as a parent, it was crushing ... for the family involved and for me as well.''

There had been published accounts of the accident, but city officials had declined to release the records because those involved were under 18. The police report was released Wednesday in response to an open-records request that was submitted to Midland officials in March.

According to the two-page accident report, Laura Welch was driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1963, when she drove into an intersection and struck a Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas.

Although previous news accounts have reported Douglas was thrown from the car and broke his neck, those details were not in the report.

The speed of Laura Bush's car was illegible on the report. The speed limit for the road was 55.

Laura Bush and her passenger, Judy Dykes, also 17, were taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to an accident account printed at the time in the Midland Reporter-********.

The police report indicates no charges were filed. That section of the report was left blank.

''As far as we know, no charges were filed,'' said Midland city attorney Keith Stretcher. ''I don't think it's unusual that charges weren't filed.''

And there's also this, which explains the accident in more detail:

I truly take issue with Snapcat and his attempt to smear LAURA Bush through guilt by association. She's a Bush,so she'a an evil criminal....that is what is implied. The accident was tragic, the circumstances still not entirely clear, but to leap and judge her as a murderer...when many liberal Democrats here still defend drunk, selfish, reckless Ted Kennedy who definitely was negligent and complacent at the least in young Mary Jo Kopechne's death,I'm sorry, but no sale!

I do notlike to take issue with my friends, but when I believe a line has been crossed,I only look to defend what's right and vigorously challenge the allegation made.

Ned, is there some reason that your cite omitted the fact that the victim of Laura Bush's vehicular manslaughter was her boyfriend? That's just too convenient an omission to be accidental.

Similarly, the fact that the weather was clear and visibility was excellent seems to be missing from your cite. The fact that she had travelled along Farm Road 868 hundreds of times and was very familiar with the road and the stop sign that she failed to stop at also seem to be missing from your cite.

It was well established that a full 8 minutes elapsed in which Michael Dutton Douglas lay there with a hole in his neck while trying to figure out why his girlfriend didn't recognize his distinctive 1962 Corvair Sedan, you know, the one with the distinctive headlights that were low slung and a full 9 inches narrower than any other care on the road.

I can't imagine there were a lot of Corvair Sedans in Midland, Texas, can you? ;)

You know, for years Laura Bush lied about being the driver of that car. She said it was raining and slick and weather reports dispute that. She lied about Michael Dutton Douglas being her boyfriend, but the District Attorney said that he was her boyfriend when he released the police report.

Now if the thought of Laura "The Black Widow" Bush's carefully constructed reputation being besmirched upsets you, or the thought of Laura Bush: Midland's Emissary of Death having to answer to her killing of a 17 year old Texas boy seems unfair, then I don't know what to think.

Funny, I thought the GOP was known for being the "Right to Life" party. But, oh wait I forgot ... she was a Democrat then wasn't she?

Far too long, here, the right has enjoyed the freedom of political character assasination. But you know what, it's about high time that the folks on the left and those inbetween enjoyed that same freedom. After all, why should the right enjoy the exclusivity?

No, I think the Swift Boats can dock in both harbors.

Ned, is there some reason that your cite omitted the fact that the victim of Laura Bush's vehicular manslaughter was her boyfriend? That's just too convenient an omission to be accidental.

It's mentioned in the second link, and it's a disputed fact. I just copied and pasted the stories as they appeared on the Internet.

Retard-America National Committee.

The Republicans may have lost the South with this Ad.

You do not live in the daily racist environment of the south, at least not the part I do. Black does out number white in this area. Ford will win here but not in the rest of the state.

it's a disputed fact.

And I'm sure you give nice disclaimers like 'it's disputed' [because it's not even fact, but bullshit propaganda] when it comes to the Shit Boat Bitterans Against Truth's smears, as well.
