The Rocky Horror Picture Show ....

MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Movie bosses at MTV have announced plans to remake cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

The new film will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien and be overseen by Lou Adler - the executive producer on the 1975 hit, which starred Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon.

Although casting decisions have yet to be made, Adler hopes the picture will be ready in time for October 2009.

He tells Daily Variety, "I'd like to see it shown a year from this coming Halloween, but that's up to MTV."

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

I don't think it needs updating.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

worst idea ever.
based simply on the fact that NO ONE can play that role but Tim Curry.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

I want them to do it just to see how bad it is.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

ACHKKKK UGHHHGKKK....oh excuse me i was throwing up. Leave perfection alone!!!!!!!

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

What a terrible idea.

You can't improve on cheesy low-budget perfection.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

IMDB hasn't said anything about it (yet) so until they do, I won't believe it.

Yeah they have. Thats where I found out about it in the first place this afternoon.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Personally I see nothing wrong with the original. I didn't know it existed until a couple of months ago and when I watched it I thought it was only a few years old and was actually gobsmacked to learn it was 30 years old.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Nothing can ever top the original...I'm just curious as to who they'll cast, especially as Rocky and Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Peter Hinwood was absolutely gorgeous back then. Hard to picture him in his sixties.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Is this going to made for cable television?

Remaking a cult classic to me seems futile. But I'm sure I will be tempted to see how it turns out.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Nothing can and will never beat the original. Not in my book. [-X

It was posted here some time ago. People thought it was a horrible idea back then and, apparently, that sentiment hasn't changed.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

The original had this accidental balance between taking itself seriously and knowing it was a SERIOUSLY bad movie. Which is what makes Rocky so fucking awesome, that and the midnight interactive showings.

This shit's gonna blow. I don't care if Lou Adler, Michael White, Richard O'Brien and Tim Curry himself are overseeing this thing; it's gonna blow.

Frank: Enchant". Well! How nice. And what charming underclothes you both have. But here. Put these on.They'll make you feel less... vulnerable. It's not often we receive visitors here, let alone offer them... hospitality.
Brad: Hospitality? All we wanted to do was to use your telephone, Goddammit, a reasonable request which you've chosen to ignore!
Janet: Brad, don't be ungrateful.
Brad: Ungrateful!
Frank: How forceful you are, Brad. Such a perfect specimen of manhood. So... dominant.

It just can't be duplicated.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

You've got to be kidding.

I mean, this is Rocky Horror Picture Show we're talking about! Not some...some...run-of-the-mill movie! IT'S A PICTURE SHOW!

Very bad idea.

Re: MTV revisits "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Hey, Frank, how do you say "Let's have sex" in French?
Frank: Enchant".
That's not how you say it!

THAT'S how you say it.

If he's so dominant, why does she need glasses?

It just can't be duplicated.
