The Sad Saga of Former Rep Aaron Schock

Totally not gay Aaron Schock has been hanging out poolside at a West Hollywood hotel in a totally not gay swimsuit, chatting with a totally not gay companion who was on Scruff.

Somehow, an Oscar Wilde quote comes to my mind: “The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable!”. Wilde was talking about hunting but I wonder what was in the mind of this paparazzi sneak-photographer at this hotel pool.

WeHo might be the perfect place for Schock to hide out. There's thousands of guys who look like that (and hundreds who are sunning themselves by pools on any given day).

What is not clear is what he's doing for income these days. The Feds dropped most of the felony charges on him for misappropriation of campaign funds and for not paying taxes on the funds he misused. He had to come up with $100,000 to settle the claims and in exchange, he had to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

So, what is he doing for income these days? And how is this unemployed former representative from Illinois able to afford hanging out with the boys in Palm Springs and West Hollywood?

Although I suspect that in reality, he is just looking to hook himself up with some rich closet case who will treat him well.

He doesn't display the traits of narcissism in his speaking, and a narcissist (like Trump) does. He might be an asshole, but he's not a narcissist. A Narcissist would have taken that time to tout how wonderful HE is, and how people love him. (The grandiosity factor, so much a part of narcissism).

He does display traits of depression, which is frequently connected to shame, unworthiness, anxiety, fear.

That in itself would cause him to stay in the closet, a so many gay men have done, even ones on here.

He IS, however, a hypocrite.

One thing about narcissists is that they can never say, "I made the mistakes and I'm sorry." It's always someone else's fault. Or "mistakes were made".

Same. When I compare what other politicians have done/are doing, the dustup over the office decor, the vehicle mileage and misappropriation of funds seems minor. That what Schock did seems minor is a sad statement of where we are today in political corruption. Once upon a time, these guys would plead guilty to a felony, then slink away in shame, after they did their prison sentence.

The 2015 stories about the Downton Abbey office decor did look like a hit job. He's blaming the justice system, the prosecutor, etc but this looked like an inside job... like maybe his party wanted someone else in that Illinois seat? Or maybe they had 6 pack ab envy?

My sympathy evaporated after I saw a couple of these interviews where there was no acknowledgement of a) that his actions are the source of his political demise and b) that he's lucky that he's not putting those pink belts on his orange jumpsuit in a Federal prison. A misdemeanor, paying $68,000 back to his campaign fund and back taxes? ](*,) Jesse Jackson Jr got 2-1/2 years in prison plus the restitution.

And there's the matter all those anti-LGBT votes in his voting record...

 
I think it was definitely an inside job by the far right GOP party bosses who saw him potentially being the kind of wrecking ball story that would create a huge scandal at some point when his hypocrisy and lies were exposed.

Men with pretty faces and nice buttocks have a moral duty to share their beauty with us lesser people. We don't have that kind beauty to share.

We don't have to courage to appear in public nor the stamina to satisfy the onerous rules of a hide-bound employer. We have only the luxury of cowering in anonymity and criticising.

The guy has chutzpah, will give him that. He's done so much damage voting against LGBT interests but just wants to blend into the community? Not before owning up and apologizing for your past denials of who you are and the basic rights of the LGBT community as a whole. You DON'T get to get on line for a free buffet no matter how incredible you look in the altogether. But your character history is not just that you have a great ass but you ARE an ass of a person. So until Aaron owns up to what he has done, he should be treated as a mooching, hypocritical, sleazy persona non grata. An even should he apologize, he'll have a lot to make up for and he'd have to earn forgiveness because when we needed allies, he hitched his lot with right wing, family values conservatism and never lifted a finger in our defense or support.
