The Sad Saga of Former Rep Aaron Schock

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

In the first posted pic, it looks like the half-closet(or whatever it is) on the left might be partially open. Skeletons, trying to come out, perhaps?

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

'Cause that's not gay at all. Haha

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

Living the life style of the rich and famous at expense of the tax payers.

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

Everyone knows Aaron Schock is a closeted Republican.

In general, are there pictures of other congressional members' offices? I'm curious about their decorating. Reason for that is to see who keeps a professional, tasteful office. (Schock's is vulgar. No surprise!)

I think that might be Schock back there, hiding in the closet.

Living the life style of the rich and famous at expense of the tax payers.

To be fair, the interior decorator, Annie Brahler, donated her services free.

Schock (presumably) paid for all the furnishings, wall treatments, and paint himself. (The House will give you beige, eggshell, light blue, light gray, or yellow paint for free - anything else the representatives pay for themselves).

The weirdness about no one photographing the office has led some to wonder if Schock might be accepting bribes. Personally, I think he's just being secretive because the office is so gay and he's so deeply closeted. He's actually causing trouble for himself with his closetedness.

Actually, he's fairly out about his Republicansim. I don't understand why; you would think that would be cause for intense shame.

Republicanism is a lifestyle choice, you know.

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

Ah, I had to Google Aaron Schock to remember who he was. Why anyone who think for a minute he's straight is beyond me.

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

He's so gay and can just imagine what kind of action goes on in that "fabulous" tasteless room.:sex:

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

But what gay on earth would condone the atrocity in that room? Ugh. It's aggressively tasteless. Awful. Artless. Acidic. Ulcer-inducing. Maybe he's ashamed what his gay friends would think if they saw his office, and is desperately trying to find a new decorator...thus the no-photos policy....hmm.

Indeed.

And yet, Schock himself insists he is straight, and has a perfect record of voting against gay rights.

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

I think it looks good, but then again I think Art Deco was the last architectural style worth a damn in the Western world. Modern design is so utterly soulless.

While the guys secrecy of his office is strange, by all reports he paid for it with his own funds so whatever. I think if there was a D next to the guys name people here would be singing a slightly different tune about his taste.

Re: Aaron Schock's Downton Abbey-Inspired Office

(I should say I'm a modernist in design--but the red and Victorian accents are horrid. One way or the other, but not both.)

But, he's not a Democrat. And he has voted against the LGBT community. And Aaron Schock is gay.

So the what-ifs doesn't mean anything. We're dealing not with what-ifs but real life.

I think Zu was just pointing out that if Schock were a liberal Democrat some of these people would probably be praising his taste, and even those that genuinely hate it would just not post anything at all about it.

That part of CE&P has never bothered me, but some people really don't like double standards of any sort.

I think the office can be regarded as conspicuous consumption, but "The Boner" keeps insisting that we're broke! Too bad we can't see the window treatments. :(

This Aaron Schock?

Pretty much. I dislike the guy for his political opinions, not for how he like to decorate his office with his own money.

Not to say the topic of this thread isn't funny, because it is, but I think we can come up with a lot of more valid reasons to criticize the anti-LGBT portion of our government than their sense of interior design.

Aaron Schock Defends His Downton-Styled Office
By Invoking Taylor Swift

[Aaron] Schock's been lampooned for the garish, fiery design of his office after 'Washington Post' reporter Ben Terris found his way into the hallowed halls and published a piece earlier this week. 'ABC News''s Jeff Zeleny ambushed Schock for a segment that aired last night, and the congressman did his best to defend his Edwardian horror.

It sounds like "Zu" is just fine with the "double standard" of a closeted homosexual politician working against homosexuals like Zu. And that Zu wants us to be okay with that as well.

Now did he say that? No, he didn't.
