Although The Scissor Sisters have released two or three albums here in the U.S. over the past three years, mainstream acceptance doesn't seem to be in the cards for these sisters (they've not once dented Billboard's Hot 100).

But in the course of the past month similar in sound & style, Mika has not one but two songs ("Grace Kelly" and "Love Today") climbing the Hot 100.

And I must admit that I like him more than I do Scissor Sisters, although by a very slim margin. I don't know if he's a little less in your face than the Sisters or if I just like his lyrics better but the li'l guy is a major gem and hopefully on Grammy's short Best New Artist list come next year.

Which one of these out dance phenoms do you guys prefer?

I like Mika a lot but I must say I've been listening to Scissor Sisters' "Kiss You Off" so many times since last night when I first heard it and I love it!!

(I'm listening to it right now!)

maybe not in the US but they are quite successful in europe!

I hate Mika so the Scissor Sisters get my vote.
Their songs are great, their albums are wonderful and I've never seen a better live band.

I like the scissor sisters themselves a lot more than their horrible music. They have one really good song (and I think Elton John wrote that) and the rest are (in my own pig-headed opinion) shit.

Mika has that one QUeen rip-off song that I like.. the rest of the album is dull.

But Mike isn't gay.. so I'll vote Scisor sisters.

( but if I'm going to vote for a gay band, I'll take The Killers or Eric Himan any day, thanks)

my friend met mika... theres pictures and everything... he says he is gayer than gay can be... he has the best gaydar than anyone else I know so i beleive him

I like scissor sisters, but mika just makes me want to kill things. Nothing he's done is original and he's basing his image on 'aren't i so gay and fabulous', which is an instant turn off for me.

i have both scissor sister cds and the mika cd. i like more songs on the one mika cd than i do on both SS cds combined.

The Scissor Sisters own Mika like Christina Aguilera owns Hilary Duff.

Oh, pish posh, Jasun....

Yer just still pissed about their 'Comfortably Numb' cover... ;)

"Ta-Dah" is a good, (not *great*) but good album with quite a few good songs on it.... ("Kiss You Off" "She's My Man" ) just to name a couple...

I'm amazed at how American audiences just ignored them. (The power of 'Clear Channel', perhaps)

When I first heard the Scissor Sisters I knew they'd never make it in the US.

They're too campy, and campy doesn't translate to Americans.

Robbie Williams is the biggest male vocalist in the world, and in America he doesn't even sell out clubs.

Mika will be a one hit wonder here, too.

.

Perhaps.

'Campy' *used* to sell in America.... I'm not sure what has changed...

Maybe the 'gay thing' has shifted from a 'fun image' to being just a little 'too real' for a lot of people....

At any rate, have you seen the video for "She's My Man" ? Amazing stuff...

NO CGI, no camera angles change....

It's darned good, if you ask me....

I think right now, I prefer Mika, because he seems a bit more catchy. I loved the SS's first album, but eh...I got a bit bored.
