60 years ago, the Century 21 Exposition opened on 21 April 1962.
Better known as the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, many feel that this was the event that put Seattle on the map.
What surprises me is the limited video archive material there is on the 1962 Seattle World's Fair.
Publicity films were made by Soundac Productions, Inc. of Miami, Florida. But those are outnumbered by silent recordings.
There's little video from the time that I feel worthy of sharing, so here is a clip from 1962 that's not too awful:
The Seattle of 1962 is long gone. Seattle is completely different thanks to an ever changing demographic makeup.
Today, the Seattle Channel made a 30 minute tribute video highlighting some of the people who helped make the 1962 Fair a reality.
