anyone else a fan of this classic british comedy?

It's so funny coz although the stereotypes and actions of the characters are so over the top and exaggerated, they r so pin point accurate. I'm sure everyone knows someone like Hyacinth.

My favorite scene is the one were she throws the holiday brochures out the window of the car. its on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pIQP0eCNtE

I didn't mind KUA when it was first shown, but looking back with hindsight (and watching the repeats) it's now clear to me that what little real comedy there is in it all comes from the minor characters.

Hyacinth isn't funny. She just makes me want to hit stuff.

It's available on DVD??!! I'm so excited!! I love that show!! Hyacinth is soo aggrivating that I love her! "It's not 'bucket', it's pronounced 'bouquet'!"

I used to love that show when I was a kid. Haven't seen it in years

yeah all 5 seasons r on DVD thru the BBC in the UK and ABC in australia, not sure aboiut USA.

Not sure about the DVD in the US, but its on every afternoon on BBC America. Isnt Sheridan a member of JUB? ;)

Absolutely love that show....

Seen a few of the episodes several times and still funny each time.

The british sure know how to make comedies.

Also love.... Are you being served? ( Mr. Humphrey, are you free??)

Does anyone know the name of a british comedy that portrait famous people using puppets???? It was hilarious (in the 80's, or early 90's).

I cannot remember the name of the show to save my life.

(!)

I love Mrs Bouquet! The enire 5 seasons were shown on ABC Oz a couple of years ago. I had not seen "Keeping up Appearances" before that. Although we never got to meet Sheridan on the show, I am pretty sure I have met him.

One TV channel in Oz, Ch 7, is showing British comedy for a couple of hours on Saturday nights in prime time. Four comedies are featured - Are You Being Served, Mildred and George, Some Mothers Do Have Them and Benny Hill. Are You being Served is a bit tired, Mildred and George are wonderful and Benny Hill has some very amusing moments...and some which are quite boring. What amazes me about Some Muvvers is that Michael Crawford is so thin, a bit different to what he is now. Also what amazes me is that he always did all his own stunts, and some of them were pretty hairy. Heavens knows how he ever got insurance!

I have also just seen the first series of "Dad's Army" on DVD. Wonderful actors, brilliant scripts and hilariously funny.

I watch this show every week on PBS. Comedy doesn't get much better. You have excellent taste.
