I been having this problem with The Sims 2 game only but for somereason everytime I play the game and if I' am in a home or viewing the town where the grass area suppose to be green it's black and then all of the sudden it would be green again. Then if I' am playing in a lot with the sims I get the weird skin texture like the fridge texture or hair or just black background on the grass area. Does anyone know how to fix this? It seems like there is some flickering problem since when it flickers then this happens and then if it flickers again it's gone and back to normal. It doesn't flicker all the time but couple times it does.

I do have the latest drivers from Sony and Windows updates from Microsoft for my laptop.

This is the only game I have this problem other games work fine.

My laptop specs

Sony VPC-EB3QFX,
Intel® Core™ i3 - 370M (2.40GHz)
8 GB DDR3/1066MHz
320 GB 5400rpm, Serial ATA
Realtek® High Definition Audio
Intel® HD graphics, 1.7GB VRAM
TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C
Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

I did couple days agao use Vaio Care and did a system clean up and also did the one click care thing so it did do the defrag and also disk clean up and even reg clean and defrag. Also I have tried to even recover the computer like new again and reinstall all of my games and programs and update the drivers and windows updates again but still this game has that problem. I have the base game of The Sims 2 PC game. No other expansion packs are installed. I got all my drivers from Sony esupport website and also my Vaio update program lets me know when there is an update for softwares and drivers. Basicly my computer is up to date but still have this problem on just one game.

I actualy wonder if it's the game itself is the problem but all I know is that when I play this game on a different computer I don't have this problem. Maybe the base game isn't as updated as the ones that have expansion packs like The Sims 2 Deluxe or Double Deluxe I don't know though.

But anyways if anyone can help I would truely appreciate it.

Thank You :)

Here are a pic of the game when it's having the problem. Basicly you see the skin texture repeating and some other textures too. Sometimes on the grass area it's just black but in the house everything looks normal.

Something like this happens couple of times while playing the game but most of the time it shows the grass and things normaly. I just wonder why this happens. Sometimes it's hair that repeats. It really depends.

I had issues to where my water in The Sims 3 turned different colors, this was night a lighting effect it was something to do with my video card.

When I had The Sims 2 installed certain objects or even walls turned bright red, I was told it was a video card issue so possibly it might be the same case with you on the grass. I've never had grass turn weird colors for me just random things.

The game just has weird things happening, not sure what it might be.

I have seen that happen also on a older computer I use to have but yes that is a video card problem. But someone on a different forums said that my problem isn't hardware problem and he thinks it's my game CDs are bad so it doesn't install right. But I thought maybe it's the video driver that is the problem but I have the latest from Sony already so it can't be that. So I can only think it's the CDs are bad. I know that I take care of my games so there are very minor scraches on The Sims 2 game since I got this game used at Goodwill store. But who ever had the game didn't scrach it much. Most of my other games that are new don't have scraches at all.

Btw when I play The Sims 3 I don't have any problems and all other games work right. Just The Sims 2 has this problem. I see that video problem you had on older computers for The Sims 2 game. But I never had any problems playing The Sims 3 on my new computer I got last year. Everything thing looks normal on The Sims 3game like the colors, etc.

But I wonder how I can fix the problem I' am having with the skin texture repeating for The Sims 2 game or having a black background instead of grass.

Yeah maybe the texture is bad, I've never heard of games having issues with discs, it might be true but mostly thought that if the data was corrupted it would give you errors and like it not starting the game. Does it do it with all grass textures or just certain ones? Like I am certain they have other grass textures to choose from, but just figured that maybe one of the grasses you have might of been corrupted.

Ok this is interesting. I tried installing The Sims 2 Deluxe which is a different CD and still have the same problem. So apparently my The Sims 2 CD base game has no problem. I wonder why this happens. Btw even on desert area this happens not just grass.

I can only think it's my computer then since I also have tested on a different computer and this doesn't happen. So only my laptop has this problem. But I do know that my hardware is working fine since I did test each hardware using the Vaio care program since they have the software and hardware testers.

Btw The Sims 2 Deluxe is a totaly different CD meaning it has The Sims 2 and Nightlife in one DVD disk so has nothin to do with my The Sims 2 CD game that only has the base game. I have the original The Sims 2 CD and The Sims 2 Double Deluxe. I tested both and same thing happens. When I test on different computer it doesn't happen. So it's really strange since my notebook is still new and has no hardware problems.

Well I've never heard of discs being bad so I figured it wouldn't be the CD's fault.

Only thing I can think of is that it's a driver problem but I already have the latest from Sony. Since my hardware is working right so it can't be the hardware. But maybe it isn't the driver since Sony does update there drivers on there website. I wish I could fix this but I can't so far.

Also apparently this is not happening to alot of people since if it did happen alot people would know how to fix it and post here on how to fix this common problem. :(

It would of been nice if my Sony notebook wasn't customized since then I could use generic drivers from like Intel and see if they would fix the problem. Basicly I need to use OEM drivers since they are customized to work for my computer model.

Everyone says that branded computers are like this since each company makes there drivers for each model they make. Basicly companies like Sony gets the generic drivers from like Intel and then they customize it for each model of there computers to work right. I called Sony and they said that they recommend me using there drivers since they are customized to work for my machine. Some Sony techs even said that it won't work at all using generic drivers since Sony has customize there drivers.
