I really want to support this game, so I plan on buying it instead of downloading that pirated copy....

i have a question on minimum system requirements tho.... are those like, the minimum of what you need to play the game and it look as good as the gameplay looks on the trailers or is that the minimum to play the game at all? and if its the first ones.... what kinda ram and graphics card and all that jazz would be best for the sims 3?

Usually minimum requirements means playing the game on lowest graphical settings.
Therefore, it'll be playable... just it won't look exactly as it's meant to.

A lot of times the minimum requirements are the requirements to play the entire game at a reasonable pace. The game might run on computers with weaker graphics, but it's won't be very smooth and certain features might crash.

WINDOWS XP

- Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
- 1 GB RAM
- 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

WINDOWS VISTA

- Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
- 1.5 GB RAM
- 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

These are the minimum requirements for what you asked, I would say go at least double those specs.

I've been running The Sims 2 on a rather low end PC and can't wait to see the Sims 3 on my new PC.

I'm going for a 1GB graphics card and 4GB RAM (just to be on the safe side)

Going double the specs should be sufficient though

thanks guys!

yea, i have a vista, and im going to be upgrading my ram video card to double the minimum specs so i should be good! thanks so much!

I just hope that my laptop will run The Sims 3. It runs the Sims 2 just fine, but I wonder if it'll run 3...Even so, I can't wait to try it!

Does your laptop use an integrated graphics card?

If so, it probably won't run Sims 3... although mine doesn't even run sims 2. That's what my desktop is for!

It works fine on my mac book pro. I believe it's a second generation or third generation. I know this is the one where they first introduced the track pad swipes. The one after that the screen was glass like and they got rid of the buttons on the track pad :(

But my software is Leopard OSX 10.5.7

For Mac these are the specs.

System requirements
Mac

* Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later
* Intel Core Duo processor
* 2GB of RAM
* 6.1GB of free hard-disk space minimum (with at least 1GB of additional space for custom content and saved games)
* 128MB of VRAM
* ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
* DVD drive

Note: This game will not run on systems using PowerPC processors (G3/G4/G5) or the Intel GMA 950 class of integrated cards

One warning for the Mac version is that since there is no "right click" and "mouse wheel" you emulate it by holding command button and than clicking and also by holding control and command and than clicking the track pad button.

It tells you how to do this in instructions. The game is VERY VERY SEAMLESS. The only loading times are if you make a new character, save the game, or load the game that's it. It's amazing..

And the graphics look great :D

And of course it's fun.

If you have a less-than-18-month-old MBP it will have a gesture-configurable trackpad. You can right-click with a two-fingered tap, and scroll by sliding two fingers on the trackpad. It's all configurable from System Preferences. (Unless some limitation of the game doesn't recognize touchpad gestures.)

The newer MacBooks (with glass trackpads) allow a zone/corner of the pad to be defined for right clicks.

I am sure you can use the 'right click' and 'mouse wheel', you just have to use a separate mouse, then the track pad. Then again, I normally use Mac Pros with my bluetooth mouse. So what would I know.

The graphics for the game are stunning, the water, the trees! A thing of beauty. I have it running on my system, I think what's keeping me back is the processor, as most Sim games require a lot of cpu power, though it helps that I have mine OC'ed. I've already have created a nice array of houses for the sims exchange. so many options! There are things that I don't like, but the things that the game is missing or aren't in it 'yet' is fine for now. Just to say, it seems in my point of view, that it tends to lag a little when customizing, very miner mind you, but still noticeable. I average around 40-55fps normally, with the settings tweaked a little higher then normal.

I say, don't hesitate on it, get it, GET IT NOW! :D

I'd love to play right now but unfortunately I am doing some school work. I try to play at night :D

It's really new to me and lots of things amaze me because I never played the Sims 3 so it's not only new to me. It's new, shiny, and faster for me :D

Oh right forgot about external mouses. I don't use one. Although I have to admit emulating the right click has worked really well on mac games. Especially unreal tournament. Fucking love that game.

I haven't focused on building houses yet. I am still trying to make more money at the job in the game and upgrade my house a little. I've done fishing though and it's lots of fun. I know you can use cheats but I don't want to do that..yet.

Yeah, I got tired of that, but building the houses excites me! By the time they come out with Sims 4 (it's going to happen, just don't know when) it'll almost be like a real cad program to some extent. it's getting to that point.

I've noticed fishing, I thought that was interesting, I've also like all the things your sim can now do! so many options. There is even an overclocking feature for the computers! :'D made the computer geek inside me happy! And the fact you can go into town and buy up stores and commercial buildings is awesome!

The choices in woods, and colors, fabrics, tiles, metals! When light shines on some woods/tiles/metals, it gives such a glow! The shadows, the lights, they really did out do them selves with this installment. lol
