I was watching the final episode where Tony and his family were eating at a diner and various people came and went. Meadow was having problems parking her car. As she was coming into the diner..the screen went dark...then the credits began to roll. What happened?? Did I miss something??? What did I miss???
Some one please help me out!!

I wonder if Chase did this on purpose. I don't watch the show since I haven't had HBO in nine years, but people are already talking about how the ending sucked.

You didn't miss a thing. That is exactly the way it happened. I didn't think they would tidy it up and they didn't.

What the hell?

If somebody didnt start this thread i would have.

What the hell kind of ending was that?

I thought my cable went out and i was like, oh hell no i am so switching to a new provider, then a few seconds later i see silent credits.

Then i started to laugh uncontrollably.

I must say this is a first for finales and not quite sure how i feel about.

Can't wait to read the reviews tomorrow to see how critics assess the ending.

Oh by the way Phil? what the hell? What a way to go, so graphic too with the skull crushing and the guy v omitting. My hand went over my mouth just like the people at the gas station. That was in your face death.

Why is this thread in the celebrities forum?

OK, I thought something was wrong with my cable provider too...then I realized that it was a disappointing ending...I can understand that they (the Sopranos) could live on with their life...however, the director appeared to be leading up to something more...then cut it off...not cool...

IMHO

I know because it seemed like about 4 men in the diner looked suspicious like at any moment they would pull out a gun and even while Meadow was parking the car, it seemed like something was going to happen out there but nothing.

I liked it.

Now we get to speculate forever on what happened.

Guys you missed something really big at the ending. Maybe its not that obvious if you don't really study film or techniques that much. I really thought it was the best ending possible (Phil's dead, what more could I ask for......LoL. No but I mean it went off PERFECT.

Everyone was anxious as hell when they kept on showing the people walking in and staring. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for the "time to run out". It was done beautifully even down to the daughters car problems which would make many think she won't be inside on time for dinner and as she's finally parked and getting to the door "maybe she'll witness the murder". Come on! It was filmed that way because they knew that 95% of the people watching would be thinking that. It was PERFECT.

The ending was all summed up beautifully as well "Sometimes we just got to remember the good times". That's the whole good bye in a nutshell. They just can't turn to the camera and say it, but that line was specifically chosen to wrap the series up with. It was a way of saying "Hey, it was fun and I hope everyone had some moments of the show that they enjoyed and remember, but now its over Goodbye".

BLACKOUT simply means: calming, nothings going on, and the end. Also a good choice because there is no way to really interpret a final scene if everything just goes black. It means "NOTHING IS HAPPENING" That's the end right there.

I think if you apply what I've said above to the last 5 mins of the show, the ending makes perfect sense.

Awesome show and "The Shaw of Iran" (Phil) LoL is finally dead. Plus his head got run over so thats a + in my book. I'll give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Who thought the cat was Adrianna?

Could it be that the screen went blank because Tony died?

We stopped seeing when he stopped seeing.

The cat was Christopher. First Tony said that the cat killed a rat in the cellar. This means that Christopher found out that Adriana was talking to the feds and had her killed. Second the cat kept on looking at Christopher (duh). Third Paulie hated the cat, just like he hated Christopher. Well more like how Paulie was jealous of Christopher because Tony always favored him over Paulie.

Crappy Ending. I was sooo excited, the adrenaline was pumping...then Black! The show was not wrapped up. The ending sucks. I am so disappointed.

After avoiding spoilers from message boards, news shows, and at my job. I finally got to watch the show on my TIVO in glorious HD... AND

WTF??

I liked the ending. The suspense put the viewers in Tony's place and let us feel what it will be like for Tony for the rest of his life...(always looking over your shoulder and suspecting that anyone may be there to kill you.)

I'll quote myself....

I mean to each his own, but I friggin' loved it!

I read something somewhere that was interesting. (JDs, did you post this?)

Tony was talking to Dr. Melvi about when he saw his own father died. He was walking into a diner late and saw him die. Just like Meadow, who was running late (but really? You don't know how to parallel park?)

And, in the 2nd to last episode, towards the very end, Tony had a flashback about him and Bobby on the boat. Bobby asked him what he thought what happens when you die. And he said "It goes black."

So, in the end, there were a lot of parallels between the two. Yet, we will never know how it really ended. which sucks for some. But I loved it.

David Chase said he knew how he wanted it to end about 4 or 5 years ago.

it went black because tony got whacked
someone mentioned that when it happens all you see is black
it was the guy that came out of the bathroom that whacked him
it was a GENIUS ending

i really thought that when she was parking that she would be killed
anyways the ending sucked
it was worse then the will & grace ending

yeah the will and grace series finale was awful. way too sad for a comedy.

and i cant believe they ended the sopranos like that. many people think it is so they can have a movie, but the producers say they arent planning for one.

I liked it

glad I didn't see Tony and maybe his family - get "whacked"

is that a great word or what "whacked"

I've read all of the explanations - after the fact

whatever

I liked it

and will miss the show a lot
