The Sopranos Series Finale

I thought this would fit better in the MGME Forum!

Can we merge the 3094 threads already devoted to this too robertac or not?

Maybe sean penn will quit calling us faggots that just watch Desperate Housewives and not the Sopranos

I give up on trying to explain why the ending served it's purpose.

I agree.

One of the best endings ever, and if people would actually stop and think about why it was absolutely brilliant, then maybe they'd stop bitching.

Damn people. Google "Sopranos last episode" and open your fucking minds.

It was a work of damn art.

I give up on trying to explain why the ending served it's purpose.

Why cant you and "Sean Penn" grasp the simple concept that people DID GET the ending, but just didnt like it? What is it with you that you think people who didnt like it are somehow stupid?

If the ending, and David Chase, are so amazing and perfect and genius... why was there 2 more pages of that scene in the original script? If he wrote more, then he obviously didnt intend to end it with the cut-to-black. Therefore you could argue that it was an afterthought.

I liked the show, was a little disapointed with the finale. It led on that something big was about to happen, then....

To me, it is what ever you want it to be. Did it fade with the family having a meal, going home and starting a new day? Life goes on? Or did Tony and family get whacked?

Its what you think, in your mind. Plenty of in depth discussion in the above threads to give justification either way.

Well i just finished watching the finale ( in australia, tho season 6B hasnt started airing yet) and I gotta say.....the last scene did everything it was meant to. My heart was racing..every second something couldnt have happened..every person in the dinner was suss....meadow's car could have exploded. I think that that was the genius of it, we have become acustom to the fact that in Tony's life anything could happen at any second and the 'hit' could come from anyone.

The one thing that sticks in my head is the shot of Tony standing at the doorway then the camera changes to him sitting in the middle of the screen slightly illuminated. I instantly thought of "THE LAST SUPPER". Now, this could mean that it's Tony's last supper before being shot or just simply a sort of 'stamp' on the show saying that this is the last time we will see the Soprano's eating a meal - as they tend to do at most season finales.
I believe that Tony was killed.

Oh come on people! The only reason they leave a series ending with a big qustion mark about what happened is to revive the show or do a spin off when it's clear no one from the cast is going to get another job. Money makes the world go around the world go around the world go around.
