Actress Veronica Lake, 1940’s. Although beautiful, she had a reputation for being notoriously difficult to work with. Joel McCrea once refused to do a movie with her, saying “Life’s too short for two films with Veronica Lake.” Raymond Chandler once referred to her as “Moronica Lake”. For many years, she struggled with alcoholism and mental illness. She died in July 1973 from hepatitis and acute kidney injury at the age of only 50.

Grand Dukes Paul and Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia, brothers of Alexander III, ca 1885. Grand Duke Paul was shot by the Bolsheviks in early 1919. Sergei Alexandrovich was assassinated by a terrorist bomb at the Kremlin in 1905. As children and young men, the brothers were inseparable.
