The Starbuck's Guy

Don't beat yourself up about it too much. You're only 19 and have plenty of time to learn some mad flirting and pickup skills :)

lol that sounds eerily close to what happened the other night I was with my friends. We went to see SuperBad, then I stopped off at starbucks shortly after we got out, and it was right down the strip... tons of people were around the area as its packed for dinner / movie night.

Anyways... went into starbucks, and noticed 2 guys sitting at a table I passed, my friends came trickeling in shortly after, but I was waiting for my coffee, and glanced over to see one of them checking me out, lol.

And apparently while I wasn't looking my friend caught the other guy checking me out.

Boy was that flattering... and a turn on at the same time, haha....
So I guess in a way I had a similar experience =P

...Pretty sure I'd check you out to! ;)

I need to get one of those "rainbow key chains ", maybe I'll find my knight in shinning armour.

OMG!! wow well lots of us seem to have Starbucks experiences and now we got a response from an actual BARISTA!!!!

We went the other night to another one and my friend was all, no wonder you like coming here! its true because its where all the CGN's hang out! (Cute Gay Nerd's - hehe will & grace episode) but in my experience the topic of this thread - he seemed like the first few minutes he was actually working, though nobody came in, but he was leaning against the desert glass thingy. but eventually he took off his apron and seemed like he was off the clock when he came and sat down in front of me and my friend so i think he was off of work....

and it was him leaving and grabbing his stuff that made me want to give him my number to begin with... as my friend said it "he came and gave you a chance and you didnt say anything so he made it look like he was leaving to give you one more and let you know he was leaving" and thats what i did so it worked.

Hehe yeah I don't know about those CGN either!

but no it was a different starbucks we went to:(

actually didn't know if i would even go back to the first starbucks seems wierd...

We CGN's scare easily. Love my coffee though. Always hoping to meet another cute guy at Starbucks. Oh well. someday i will.

Starbucks is a very gay-friendly environment, especially for its workers. A lot of partners try to be "extra friendly" to the ones they find attractive/charming.

Also as a Starbucks employee, I say you should just flirt shamelessly with your barista. I don't think I've met any partners who were not open to chat, unless they were extremely busy (like say in a rush).

In fact, it's probably really good. Personally, I've never tried to flirt with a customer for fear that they'll stop coming back because of the "creepy barista who keeps hitting on me". Plus, stores get evaluated by Corporate (and "connecting" with customers is one of them) so it's a big plus for you and us.

I want a Cute Gay Nerd. But I can never seem to run into one who's interested in me. :(

As a matter of fact, none of the gay men I know are nerds.

There are plenty at your local Starbucks. Seriously. Never thought a coffee house was such a hot spot, did you?

Cute Gay Nerds are notoriously skiddish also, I know since its my species! haha

Thanks for the advice I would really like to go back plus the fact that it's the one thats in my area so I'm always near it. Yeah Starbucks are wonderful, and I guess I had a perfect opportunity that day since it wasn't busy and he could have talked.

oh and as well as starbucks someone else mentioned borders, which is also great, any bookstore really.... saw an amazing CGN at Barnes & Noble once he worked there, I asked if they were hiring and they weren't:(

Ive been a Barista/Learning Coach (Trainer)/Shift Supervisor for three years, and let me tell you what...
So is it ok to flirt with the barrista then?

Of Course it is. We love it when the customer flirts with us. It gives us the chance to talk with a really cute guy, and if corporate happens to be there, it gives our store a better rating lol!

Being gay is a good thing.
Lost Grace. You do not need her pushing or getting into this.
As Lex suggested, the next time, experience it.

I was in a similar position a long time ago. I needed to engage and respond myself, which I did. It was scary, but it brought me to where I needed to be and into the relationship I have been in for now over 17 almost 18 years.

You may be timid, but also be determined.
Shep+

thanks shepherd... yeah I bring her along and stuff but i think she messes with my train of thought, gets me thinking like her instead of what i feel is right.....

"you may be timid, but also be determined" <-- thats me to a 't'!

but damn, i give off the vibe and looks but nobody ever meets me halfway!

UPDATE!

finally had the chance to return to the Starbucks! sadly only through the drive-thru. BUT.. he was our window person! So although I was in the passenger seat, we noticed each other and smiled.

Just need to go back in person now, but at least he hasn't forgotten me!
