The "Stigma" of Tattoos

I really don't like tattoos at all. They just ruin the look of a guy's body. The larger they are, the worse they are.

I saw this shirtless guy in town yesterday, he had a great chest, abs, muscles, everything, and would have looked great, but all I remember is that he's got massive giant shaped stars all down his side. ](*,)

Really wish this stupid (and increasingly mainstream) habit would just die out.

The only reason I don't have any is because I'm poor. I do however, have piercings. Those that look down on others for body modification are prudish fools that can shove their holier-than-thou bullshit right up their farter.

All the hatred for tattoos as of late just cracks me up. The simple fact is people that have tattoos [STRIKE]have little interest in[/STRIKE] don't give a damn about what the people who hate them think. So why even waste time hating them? Because it make you like your grandparents. You like to complain about that which you don't understand or aren't used to. "Turn down that darn rock and roll racket! It's the devil!" It's not going away, it's about time people got over it.

I myself have a tattoo and another one on the way. If at any point someone feels the need to degrade me because I've "defiled" my skin or some such nonsense, they are welcome to try, but I promise they will fail. I feel no shame for the ink I've put on my body (in fact I feel great pride for what it represents) and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. My skin was beautiful before I "destroyed" it, but as far as I'm concerned I've destroyed in the best possible way that's all that really matters to me. I could give a shit what anyone else thinks. Oh and well done tattoos are one of the hottest things in the world to me. ..|

funny back in the 80's, you saw a bunch in gay porn - Mike Henson, Joey Stefano, others....

then, I guess in the mid 90;s, it became popular with young people in general.

certainly, if you watch sports you've seen how popular - I'd say the majority of college athletes have tattoos these days. so I don't see evidence of a stigma today.

I personally don’t like tats. I appreciate the artistry, but I’d rather a guy be natural (if we’re talking about porn). In ‘real life’ I don’t care what other people do with their bodies. Knock yourself out, you bunch of nuts! ;)

The more I read threads like this, the more I realize how wonderful tattoos are. As others have mentioned they provide a simple line of demarcation from which we may all benefit. Tattooed people can advertise their allegiances; and critics can easily avoid the tattooed. It's a win-win situation not worthy of any fuss.

I'm in the sleazy and uncultured camp, myself.

I just love the beauty of the human body too much to destroy it with ink, and I'm not attracted to people who do. It's not like I can't be friends with someone who has a tattoo but if I find out a guy has a tattoo, it's an instant deal-breaker.

And your point is...?
I'm not sure. I just react viscerally to all that grey flesh and grey cotton. It's too detailed to be intelligible. I can see Lily Munster's face on the left but, as I say, the rest has an overall, over-detailed texture of grey filigree lace.
Their photographer has posed them to look as pugnaciousness as street-fighters but some of them look dazed and confused as though they have just been dragged from their hotel beds.

I prefer skin to be the color of skin, and that's my preference. I also am not attracted to people who dye their hair purple. I actually think some tattoos are absolutely beautiful, and I admit that dedication tattoos do touch my heart. I simply enjoy looking at beautiful art more when it's not on your skin.

I have no problems with people who get tattoos. If you want to get them, then more power to you. It's your body and you can do what you want with it. I'm not judgmental...unless of course the tattoo is done in poor taste.

I have nothing against tattoos, but I they are not appealing to me when you are covered in them. There are some porn stars who are hot regardless and some just have tacky tatts. I have close friends that have them but they have had the sense enough get small one or at least ones that are covered when you wear everyday clothes. I did have a friend, when he was about 19 and being stupid, got tattoos all up his arm and on his neck and let his friend use use permant markers to draw on him and then kept wondering why he can't get a job. He did finally get a job but he had to wear long sleeve shirts and trust me, in the summer, its not fun. He regrets it now but its too late.

…Someone like him would have freaked me out a long time ago.

Not now.

Elvin, it sounds like you're evolving and that you're progressing along some kind of path of knowledge.

I wonder what's next to come along on this path?
