The True Queen of Pop: Janet or Madonna?

On past glories alone it has to be Madonna, i can barely think of more that 4-5 Janet Jackson hits whilst Madonna's Immaculate collection is Immaculate.

quantity... Madonna... but Janet always had that special place.
Rhythm Nation 1814 produced a record-setting seven Top 5 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100

I thought this thread would get more action. Come on, folks. Don't be shy. Speak your piece. ;)

I think because many gay men hold Madonna in esteem, that she is the Queen of Pop.
Ive seen Janet 4, 5? times in concert and Ive seen Madonna 1 time in concert, my vote would go to Janet ;-)

I like Madonna and consider myself a fan, but I've been riding with Janet since my sippy cup days so she gets my vote too. ;)

Honestly though I think they should share the title. Both of them changed the game, inspired countless pop and R&B girls that followed in their wake and are massive gay icons. pride::rainfro:

I'm sure this question has been posed many times over the years, but last year it was raised again when Lizzo declared Janet (Miss Jackson if you're nasty) as the Queen of Pop and needless to say opinions were divided: https://toofab.com/2021/08/30/lizzo-queen-of-pop-janet-jackson-madonna/vex 6

So I ask you, who would you personally crown as the Queen of Pop?

This “Queen of Pop” Madonna Louise Ciccone is known for pushing the boundaries of participation for women in the Pop World.

I was watching Heidi Klum on Jimmy Fallon. She made a music video with Snoop Dogg because she is hosting 'Germany's Top Model'. Here it is . . .

Its not bad considering she isnt a singer. she has crazy hair moments in the video. She gives 'great hair'

So because I posted about Madonna (above), I typed Madonna into Youtube and this came up . . .

Cool version of Frozen

So I tried Miss Janet and I thought I would post 'Made for Now' because I dont really understand what 'made for now' is.

But I made my own version of Janet Jackson's 'If' and Britney Spears 'Circus'. I played the videos together and Britney is singing 'Circus' but the video for 'If' is being shown. The video and audio syncs up pretty good, if I do say so myself . . .

Janet sings about two types of people: "ones who entertain and those who observe".

It is hard for me to vote because I don't like either one of them really.

I think I dislike Madonna more though (Like a Virgin and Vogue:bartshock)

- so I will do a write in and pick Dionne Warwick:mrgreen:

When I was a kid, Social Services was supervising my birth mother and we had to go to DHS meetings in Bay City Michigan and another mom and her kids also went to those meetings. Madonna's cousin Paula. That Christmas Madonna threw all us kids a Christmas party. She also got us Michael Jackson tickets and I saw him in 1984 with the Jacksons performing in Detroit.

So my vote is Madonna.

So far it's 5 for Madonna and 3 for Janet. And 1 for Dionne Warwick. ;)

Here is what I did, with Rmcrae's blessing, I'm sure. he he

I went to Wikipedia and searched 'Janet Jackson albums'. For each album, I opened the page and copied the songs from each album and pasted into a document. (I did the same thing for Madoona's albums.

When all the songs from each album where pasted into the document, I counted up the total number of songs. I did notice that there were some repeats because there would be a concert album which included songs, already accounted for.

There is a list of all the songs. For those of you energetic enough, or bored enough, you can count up the songs you like for Janet and Madonna.

Before I paste into the two song lists, here were my results:

Janet songs: 123 ; Janet's songs that I liked: 53 songs

Madonna songs: 241; Madonna's songs that I liked: 44 songs
