Obviously that's not true for all homosexual asians, but most of the ones I met/know are "potato queens" for most of the reasons in that link. I'm not white and white men attract me easier and quicker than other kinds of men. But I like any man that looks good regardless of race. Can't explain why I feel that way.

I come at it from a different perspective. I'm Latino and I've only been dated older, white guys. Out of the five guys I've dated, four were into Asian men as well and had Asian boyfriends before me. I've pretty much always felt Asian guys were competition for me. I've actually been trying to get away from that feeling because I know it's irrational and not fair to Asian guys.

If I ever break up with my current boyfriend, I'd be open to dating older guys of other ethnicities. They do seem to be hard to find though.

Actually the few of the Asians I met that are gay from my generation are either the 'Asians only' or the type who doesn't care as long as they're hot, which I fall into.

The older ones (around late 40s to mid 50s) though I see are the ones that would only or are currently dating an older Caucasian male.

Interesting that you say that because the article was written almost a decade ago, so things may have changed in the last decade.

If the mainstream American media is an indication, it might be because there's more access to Asian media here.

An Asian kid can now look at Asians in Asian Media who are more than nerds, Triads, or comedic gags. Not to mention the men in Asian media are hawter!

Oh I don't know haha, youtube usually to watch music vids, interviews, or appearances of various Asian stars.

But some sites I watch for Asian dramas would be:

http://www.mysoju.com/ (most of it is broken down in parts)
Hulu has some as well.

That's all I know, I haven't watched much dramas lately cause they're 1hr even without commercials.

In Vietnam I was Brad Pitt. In Saigon, walking the streets at night I had so many marriage proposals. The women were throwing their daughters at white western men it seemed. I have a strong feeling they were after my passport too. One dumb American was sleep in the airport with his passport sitting on top of all luggage for all to see.

I saw some of this in China too at a Buddhest Temple. The lady serving us Buddhest tea kept saying I had "right face", which didn't make sense. A friend later told me she was saying white face.

Can't explain the origins of this, but I find it a little backwards.

I'm glad that I'm attracted to men of all races and skin color and race-related features have never been issues for me. Makes life a lot less complicated that way and it is so freeing to not be burdened with racial preferences. There are enough other issues to contend with without race being a factor.

Interestingly, I recall dating a bisexual man who clearly had both South American and Japanese heritage and had a(n unhealthy, I think,) fixation on African American guys, like me, saying I had "the best skin color." He also had a problem with the fact I would consider dating White guys, which I've done plenty of times. But then again he also had misconceptions about a lot of things. Such as gay men are always effeminate. Or that there was something unhealthy about owning a large Dildo Or that it was somehow wrong to masturbate alone. Or that I believed him when he said he never masturbated. Or that I would accept the fact that he repeatedly didn't return my voice messages for days if he told me they had been accidentally erased. Or that I wouldn't suspect anything if I didn't hear from him for days if he just told me he was "busy." Needless to say that relationship didn't last long...But, I digress.

But "the best skin color." That always bothered me. Didn't the confederate army, the nazis, the kkk and the supporters of jim crow, among many other people, say things that were more or less similar to justify their actions against those who didn't have the "best" skin color (or religion or whatever other attribute that was picked as applicable)?

What bothers me is that the guys that FETISHIZE Asians just make us feel worse. Because there becomes TWO groups of people:

THE TYPE THAT WON'T DATE ASIANS. It doesn't matter how gorgeous my eyes might be, or those beautiful lips I might have, or whatever feature I could have, I'm the SAME AS ANY OTHER ASIAN. Just nameless and faceless...I could be 1000 lbs heavier and it would make NO difference WHATSOEVER.

THE TYPE THAT ONLY DATES ASIANS AND FETISHIZES US. It doesn't matter if my "gorgeous eyes" or "lucious lips" were suddenly...VERY different. If my nose were suddenly flattened, if I gained 50 lbs, if I my lips suddenly became deformed. I'd still be the EXACT SAME AS EVERY OTHER ASIAN and it would make NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER.

I'd like to feel that my eyes, or my nose, or my lips, or whatever feature, that are UNIQUE to me, actually make me DIFFERENT from BOTH my same-race / different-race peers, and people can look at my physical characteristics as being *MY* characteristics and ones that make me unique and attractive / unattractive, instead of just being a color that could have any face in the world and you'd still wanna exclude / screw me.

Besides, if a guy told a girl "I LOVE WOMEN!!! SO MUCH!! I WISH I COULD HAVE A WOMAN ANY DAY OF THE WEEK THE MORE THE BETTER OMG OMG OMG," the girl probably won't be very flattered by it as an individual.

Same goes for an Asian that hears "I LOVE ASIANS!!! SO MUCH!! I WISH I COULD HAVE AN ASIAN EVERY DAY THE MORE THE BETTER BLAH BLAH BLAH" -- just makes them feel that much less in the other person's eyes. THAT much more insigificant. How can that possibly be flattering to a person as an INDIVIDUAL?

While I'm sure you are being fetishized to some degree by some people, I'm sure if you were hideous people would be a lot less interested regardless.

I think some people like my skin color, hair color, eye color, body size or whatever. That's okay with me because in order for it to go long term there has to be more to it than that. I like older guys and have only dated older guys. It's what I like and what I'm attracted to.

Would I date a younger guy? There are a few that I like, but not many and I've never actually dated a younger guy, so even that is hypothetical.

What I'm trying to say is I can understand liking people for things that are physical, but any relationship worth anything has to be built on more than that.

I guess I just don't mind that as long as it moves beyond that quickly. Or are you saying it never moves beyond that if they fetishize you?

It usually never moves past that point. The next night they tend to have moved on to another Asian, and EVERY one of my local one night stands has slept with EVERY ONE of my non virgin Asian friends. It's not a good feeling.

Even though a lot of my boyfriend's friends are into Asian guys, they haven't had that kind of situation, as far as I know. I can imagine feeling shitty if that happened to me.
