New show on Showtime about King Henry VIII starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who oozes sex. I thought the first show was good, and the season looks interesting. Who else is watching this?

I don't have Showtime but would watch him if I did. He does ooze sex.

Jonathan is one sexy dude. The show is full of sex and sex appeal. It looks to be a great show if the first episode is any forcast.

For those of you who have On-demand, you can watch the 2nd show.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, while definitely one of the hottest guys on any screen, gets his scenes mugged by Henry Cavill.

I can't look at pictures of him in this role without getting hard. Those lips. Those eyes. I'd let him do whatever he wanted to me and wouldn't feel bad about it in the morning :)

Is anyone else starting to get a little bored with this series?

And what is up with Jonathan Rhys Meyers entering Rehab?

I've read a few interviews with the producers/writers/director (most of them are British) of The Tudors. They're quite open about the fact that they weren't concerned as much about historical accuracy, as about making a sexy series that Americans would like, so they could make lots of money. Refreshing candor.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers just checked into rehab.

Youtube has a nice compilation of the hot sex scenes and naked men from the show.

The series just isn't very good dramatically for a number of reasons. The comparison between the Henry in this series and any one of a number of actresses who have played the young Elizabeth I kinda tells you why.

For example, cute as he is, you don't care too much about Henry. He might well not have had much of an inner life, but then you need some other characters to put him in some context where you find out more about him.

Unlike the usual young Elizabeth scenarios, Henry doesn't come across as under any real threat. You could have made much more of the danger from Buckingham, but it's never built up into anything and then, to top it off, the plot lines around Buckingham's execution were just confusing. It wasn't clear whether Henry actually intended Buckingham's death or why he would be circumventing Wolsey, etc.

I think Henry Cavill is way hotter than Jonathan Rhys Myers, but the character Henry Cavill plays (Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk) doesn't come across convincingly to me. Making out with Buckingham's daughter and facing him down was a good excuse for some ass shots, but didn't make much sense on any level. Even if Buckingham weren't a powerful figure, why would Henry Cavill's character or even King Henry expect the aggrieved father just to eat what must have been seen as a blatant dishonor at the time. Maybe it's intended to show how much they, as young thugs, thought they could get away with.

The eye candy is fine. But the program is like a glossy cartoon where it could have been a lot more.

Though fairly historically accurate,it does play about with the facts in some key areas, but as a sophistacated, sexy soap it works very well. One thing is the choice of the captivating Henry Cavill to play Charles Brandon, one of Henry's closest friends. At the point in history the drama is set now,the late 1520's,Brandon was in his early forties .As well regarded he was for his physical attractiveness,he was way older than the 24-year old Cavill, who is incredibly charismatic and gorgeous. He's a marvelous actor as well, and does edge the beautiful Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in hotness and magnetic screen presence. But he is considerably too young compared to the historical record.

So MANY atrocious things about the series....BUT would love if they found a way for JRM and Cavill to have a sex scene together, because the hotness would melt the screen.
