The Ultimate Mini LGBTQ Flag Guide

Horrendous, the Polyamory Pride one looks like some Eastern Bloc State.

I don't think the description for the trans flag is quite right. I'm pretty sure non-binary people use it too.
Never seen the Polyamory flag. I'll have to look up why pi is in it. Seems a bit odd to me, my first thought is 'irrationality' but maybe that's not a common connection people make?

Hah... If Wikipedia is anything to go by I still don't totally get it, but oh well that's no big deal.
Pi apparently is the first letter of 'polyamory', presumably in the Greek spelling.

It's a bit sad really that everyone can't just come together under one flag, instead of all this divisive separatism of micro-genres of sexuality.

The intersex flag is yellow with a purple circle in the middle of it. Wtf is that blue/pink/white monstrosity they're trying to replace it with... Also - never liked the trans flag. Concept's good, the stripe placement was excellent (can be flown either way, it's never upside-down) - but those light pastel colors grate.

Oops, missed this earlier - the descriptions on several of the flags (at least to my understanding) are, ah, a bit off. I think the nonbinary/gq flag is listed here? They're not considered a similar thing, though, non binary and trans. You'd think they would be (and I could've sworn they used to be), but not any more, at least these days.

Then again, I got lost somewhere around when the use of the word 'demi' was added when others explain gender - when a definition is 'mostly x' and it's applied to the normative it ...seems a moot point for clarification purposes, so alls I can think when I hear it much of the time is a teenager's shrieking that they're not like other girls. Not all of the time, just ...a lot of the time.

Who makes this shit up?

How many ways can we non-conform?

Where is the Farm Animal Pride flag?

I feel bad for the cop flying his blue lives matter flag when he gets a leather daddy knocking on his door

You missed the point. It isn't about deliberate 'lookit me, lookit me, I demand to identify differently than you do while describing the same behavior' because it isn't the same behavior. For most people, feelings/wants and their contextual circumstances come before the vocabulary to articulate that. It's a matter of existence recognition.

I mean, do I think most of the non binary people I see online are gonna hold tightly to that identity as they age? Nope. Nope I do not. There's several reasons for that - a fair few young people searching for an identity fit that they'll eventually discard in droves (since that's what teenagers tend to do with ...everything, really). Then there's the essentialism where some people seem to believe weird things about it being only clothing and deliberateness in mannerisms that makes up gender but eh, you've got those people in every group. Tho I always thought it was rude to judge someone's gender on how well they understood fashion. There's also one too many mental linkages of "I want genitalia with capabilities the human body does not allow for when there's a mix and of course it's entirely coincidental it resembles the porn version of intersexuality - I've decided that means I'm genderqueer". But ha-ha, funnily enough, their counterparts and our medical diagrams that distort the average penis size are loud enough about their ''internet' inches' so someone's associating gender with extremes there, as well.

There seems to be a lot of one-note thought-processes among people in general, is what I'm saying, when gendering usually involves a three note harmony of physicality, presentation and identity. It's how you understand yourself vs how the world sees you vs how you understand how the rest of the world sees you.

Don't get me started on the definition of bi tho.

And don't forget variations on the Rainbow flag. Along the way there have been versions including hot pink and indigo. My beloved city of Philadelphia included the black and brown stripes to remind about the importance of inclusion.

OK, I have a non-LGTBQI flag question. What's with the American flag with the dark blue/black field and a bright blue stripe replacing one of the white ones?

It's the "thin blue line" flag for law enforcement.
