The Updated Omicron Thread - Tips for the plague sufferers.

So Day 6...and I actually can taste a hint of apple in the apple juice instead of just sweet.

The dizziness is still a problem today, but the nausea is subsiding...I still only want some cereal carbs like breads, but I had a whipped, microwave egg on a tortilla this morning so hopefully that will all sit well.

Yesterday it was oatmeal for breakfast and lunch...with some butter but no syrup...my poor pancreas is suffering as it is.

Get most of your vitamin C from whole foods. Half a yellow pepper will put you way over your requirement.

Eat two or three crushed raw garlic cloves a day.

Raw onions.

Berries.

More berries.

Cruciferous vegetables, especially raw broccoli.

Eat leafy greens until your poop turns green.

More berries.

Less stress.

Proper sleep.

This won't do jack for your current infection, but it just might prevent you from getting another one.

Failing that, know that Covid is the scourge of the gregarious. Consider becoming a recluse. I could give you some tips.

No. Not a lightbulb.

But the bleach makes a nice light gin fizz.

Still testing positive today....I was surprised because everyone else seems to test neg within about 5 or 6 days.

I guess I will have to just go in tomorrow morning to pick up some stuff at the office and then still work from home....

By Tuesday, we really need to go out to the mail and the grocery store though.

The worst news.

I think I gave it to my 99 year old aunt and cousins last week and god knows who else.....I am devastated.

/\ That is bad news. Sorry to hear it.

Your aunt is already in constant care, isn't she? By now they should know what to do for her. Best wishes.

She is not...she lives in her own home with a grandson there to watch over her. He also seems to have contracted it. I have suggested they contact her doc to see if she can get some Paxlovid if symptoms worsen.

There was one other older woman at the dinner with us who is in a care home who seems to have not got it but their facility is shut down at this point because of other cases.

Hopefully they've all had their shots and will only have a mild illness. One can't take any chances at 99.

I believe everyone is...

But obviously, I feel just terrible that after all these years...I was Typhoid Mary, spreading it to family.

I had been so careful to mask and stay away from people while travelling and being in the city...although I have been thinking that we may have got it from friends who maybe weren't completely non-infectious when we saw them last.

We are being incredibly cautious about going out. Double masking today for the hour spent in the office getting shit sorted.

I think we are feeling this because both of us are immuno-compromised and this is the first round.

My sis said that the second time they got it this year was much milder...but her first time was a bitch.

Some good news...my Aunt reports that she is feeling almost 100% today and seems to have shaken off the Covid.

This is why she is 99 and I feel like shit.

I was going to say, good!, until I read the second line. I had thought that the Covid shots would have prevented this, but I was wrong.

Covid vaccines don't prevent Covid, but they do reduce the chances of catching it and its severity if caught.

So one thing that has changed is that I have lost a taste for dark rum and Whiskey.

I also am finding most white wines too sweet.

After the pneumonia post covid...I am finding that I sleep in later in the morning now. And in need of a mid-afternoon nap most days.

I also am one of those who are experiencing mild anxiety and depression after Covid...but because I know it is a possible long covid effect, I am keeping it in perspective.

Has anyone else here had this as a lingering side effect?

I also have a hankering for simple carbs like a pita bread or crackers to settle my stomach. Or just plain pasta with some butter and a scraping of parmesan.

And have totally still lost my taste for tea and mineral water. Instead, I want cranberry and V8 juice or coke...none of which I normally drink.

Still zero taste for scotch and dark liquor and Guinness...although a glass of sherry was good.

It's the time of year. I really want to sit down and eat the box of Triscuit in the pantry. Not eat a few, the whole box. Right now.

Buttered egg noodles with parm and black pepper is the best. Elbow macaroni is almost as good.

Hoping you haven't lost your taste for semen.
