The Updated Omicron Thread - Tips for the plague sufferers.

It's the time of year. I really want to sit down and eat the box of Triscuit in the pantry. Not eat a few, the whole box. Right now.
I've done that. I advise you to drink a glass of water or else you'll get cramps from all that fiber.

After the pneumonia post covid...I am finding that I sleep in later in the morning now. And in need of a mid-afternoon nap most days.

I also am one of those who are experiencing mild anxiety and depression after Covid...but because I know it is a possible long covid effect, I am keeping it in perspective.

Has anyone else here had this as a lingering side effect?

I also have a hankering for simple carbs like a pita bread or crackers to settle my stomach. Or just plain pasta with some butter and a scraping of parmesan.

And have totally still lost my taste for tea and mineral water. Instead, I want cranberry and V8 juice or coke...none of which I normally drink.

Still zero taste for scotch and dark liquor and Guinness...although a glass of sherry was good.
I had tiredness, anxiety, and some depression for about 6 months after being sick with covid. I hope that your problems will be of short duration.

I find that after a nap, I feel a little better...it is helpful to know that others have had a bit of a thing with this too though.

In a way, fortunately I have a business to run that keeps me pushing through.

The other thing is that today, I pushed myself to go into town for some shopping and as a 'treat'...to grab a fish mcfuffin at McDonalds for a quick lunch...something we haven't done for some months. We even ate it in the restaurant.

I am sanitizing and masking like mad while no one else around me is though...

Just an interesting study...so far, my partner and I have exhibited many long covid conditions and with many in the family in medicine...we are all fascinated by the longer term impact of Covid and what it might tell us about other viral infections.

As I have maybe previously mentioned...if it is on the list of long Covid symptoms, either I or my partner have it.

Currently the most annoying one is post Covid rashes or skin infections.

I swear there is no way to emerge alive.

And today, I am advised that my senior guy in the office has tested +.

So when he came into my office to update me on something or other yesterday and had a sneezing fit...............

We are doomed.

Well, fuckarini.

So Dysgeusia is actually becoming more acute post Covid, which I understand can be an outcome 30 to 90 days after recovery.

This is marked by the heightened taste receptors for various foods. It isn't just a metallic taste....almost every taste is affected and not pleasantly.

I am not able to drink any tea, or mineral water and lost my taste for coffee in 2004 after pneumonia. Chocolate is now off the list as well. As is white wine. Even my beloved Guinness is no longer something I really enjoy as much.

Whatever I eat, I can almost taste each separate ingredient.

Processed carbs on the other hand, I like more and thank god I still like soft cooked eggs although hard boiled can be a problem.
