The US goes to War

Yup, the other day, I read an article that when presented with intelligence that Mojtaba might be gay, Trump laughed uncontrollably for several minutes, and then the men around him, noticing his laughter, also started to laugh.
Mojtaba Khamenei was married to Zahra Haddad-Adel, the daughter of a former Iranian Parliament leader. Haddad-Adel was killed in one of the Israeli strikes. They had children. The US alleges that at least one of the children might have also been killed by US strikes.

The Trump Administration can't get their story straight. A few days ago, Kegseth was saying that Khamenei was injured or maimed. Then he was named to replace his father as Supreme Leader. Then Iran experts said that the younger Khamenei might be worse than his father, since he was connected to the IRG and more extreme in his Islamist views.

I chatted with one of my friends in Israel and asked him what he's heard. He said that they were told that Israel was waiting for the US to finish bombing and that the war would be over when the US decided.

Fog of war? Or just a really bad group of propagandists in Washington? Who knows?

And then there's other rumors:

Everybody lies so much that it’s difficult to know what’s true. This is one reason why I wonder why Trump criticizes the popular, Yankee media so much; like (and with) him, they mislead the public in the U.S.—either by substantial silence or by deliberate disinformation. Although I will let on that I read in The Telegraph (U.K.) about the bombing of the compound in Tehran. I forget where I read about the homophobic laughter.

Guess I need to just chill out, more like some of the people around me. One of my colleagues is a Druze guy from the Golan Heights. With almost a shrug, he said that although one of the people from his village had gone into the city and died in a recent bombing in Israel, he himself hopes that “it’ll be a short war so things can go back to normal.” And then another colleague (she’s actually from Brazil) told me that she also hopes that the war’ll be short because she owns property in Türkiye at the border with Iran, and she doesn’t want the value to decline. Hey… Beats the shit outta me.

I really am considering adding new emojis to the "like" button. One for "amen" and one for "WTF/facepalm".

I agree with you. Some of the most interesting information that I get is from people outside the US bubble. It is like holding up a mirror to the mess that is the U.S.

TrumpCo. is just so bad at this....We are just lurching from one bad decision after another now with no end in sight.

And just going to point out that this puts the US in the category of imperialist war criminal...and again, this is supported by Congress, so reflects the will of the people.

There really is no difference between the US in 2026 and the Soviet Union 2.0 under Putin.

Y'all are just out of fucking control at this point.

"One day, when this is all over, which it already is, you’ll look back at our many triumphs and smile, knowing that they’re still happening and that they’ll never end. And when that day comes, which it will every day forever, we won’t have to ask you for your money, because we’ve never had to ask you for your money—we’ll just take it, so we can win an unwinnable war we already won."

And.... A promise of more war crimes...a page out of Putin's playbook.

US Americans should bear in mind...you don't get to just brush this off and carry on under the illusion that the country is some shining city on the hill. It is just another criminal state now, increasingly tarnished by the consequences of its own actions.

At some point, TrumpCo. will just nuke Tehran out of panic....

If you need evidence of the bad effects of a President who knows nothing and who plans nothing, consider this.

Trump pulled the US out of the 2015 Iran Nuclear deal (JCPOA). Hawks like Miss Lindsey Graham had been having a hissy fit because the deal released about $50 billion in Iranian assets that the US had impounded after the 1979 Iranian revolution. Trump pulled the US out of the deal after the money had been returned to Iran.

Trump just lifted sanctions on Iranian oil that was currently at sea, allowing that oil to be sold in the world market. The Trump Administration hopes that allowing this oil- estimated at about 140 million barrels- to enter the oil market will slow the escalating price of oil.

That oil will sell in a market where oil is valued at over $100 per barrel. This one decision by Trump is putting $14 billion dollars into Iran's economy.

The Trump administration lifted sanctions on Iranian oil stuck at sea on Friday evening as the conflict between the U.S. and Iran continues to hike up global energy costs.

“Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced in a social media post.

The relief order is in effect through April 19 and only applies to Iranian barrels that are already at sea, according to the Treasury Department’s announcement.

Given Trumps threat to begin targeting Iranian power plants I have to wonder about the Gulf States position is here since the target is on their backs. They are the ones absorbing the blow yet they have a card to play but haven’t played it yet. Maybe they are communicating their concerns quietly but they have leverage over Trump as in stop now or we will shut down our oil production until the Iranian matter is resolved. Should they make that threat I believe Trump will fold (who is nostalgic about the 73 or 78 gas lines)

On the other hand if they are willing to absorb this blow they want for Iran what Israel wants for Iran.

Well it must be TACO Monday.

Trump is out there lying about 'Productive' meetings and Iran is broadcasting that no such meetings have been held and that the US withdrew the threat of bombing power and deslaination plants once Iran threatened to target similar US installations in the region.
