I suspect Trump believes attacks on US troops will harden Americans against Iran.

My guess is the opposite. If they deploy incendiary bombs and US troops burn alive, the majority of Americans will lay that at Trump's feet. It won't be like 9/11 when the nation coalesced under attack. Everyone will be quick to point out they were put in harm's way for nothinig. Worse yet, for cheap oil we don't even buy.

Destruction of vital US radar aircraft could hamper ability to spot Iran threats, analysts say

The destruction of a US Air Force E-3 Sentry aircraft in an Iranian strike on a Saudi Arabia air base could damage US abilities to spot incoming Iranian threats at distance, analysts say.

Dramatic images of the wrecked aircraft, geolocated by CNN, show its tail broken off and its distinct rotating radar dome –– a critical part of the airborne warning and control system, or AWACS –– on the ground at the Prince Sultan Air Base.

“Russia most likely gave Iran geographic coordinates and satellite imagery that provided the precise location,” he said.

A Russian-flagged oil tanker has reached Cuban waters after US President Donald Trump allowed it to break his administration’s fuel blockade of the island nation as its energy crisis deepens.

There have been conflicting reports about the ship’s exact location. The Russian transport ministry said the Anatoly Kolodkin – a tanker with nearly 730,000 barrels of oil onboard – had arrived at the Matanzas port in Cuba on Monday, according to Russian state-run news agencies. But data from the ship tracking site MarineTraffic on Monday afternoon showed it off Cayo Guillermo, within Cuba’s territorial seas. It was moving west toward the port of Matanzas, where it is expected to arrive by Monday night or Tuesday morning.

A broker for U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth attempted to make a big investment in major defense companies in the weeks ‌leading up to the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran, the Financial Times reported on Monday, citing three people familiar with the matter.
Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said on X the story was "entirely false and fabricated" and demanded a retraction.

The FT report said Hegseth's broker at ⁠Morgan Stanley (MS.N), opens new tab contacted BlackRock (BLK.N), opens new tab in February, about making a multimillion-dollar investment in the asset manager's Defense Industrials Active ETF, shortly before the U.S. launched military action against Tehran.
