The US is alone.

States ought to offer a tax credit for people putting filters such as esprings or PUR in their homes so the water is drinkable again. Or of GOP politicians cared about the country, they'd offer federal matching funds for improvements to water systems
Michigan can't even do that for Flint; I think there was a bit of an effort that fizzled out as soon as the Eyes of America stopped paying attention. Meanwhile people in that city continue to be poisoned, with no end in sight. I haven't really heard much about the status of Flint on this, but I think the effort to replace contaminated feed pipes has, er, GROUND to a halt.

We expect cities to create and maintain their own water systems or let a private company to do it. Flint should not expect other people, who maintain their own systems, to take care of Flint’s as well.

We also expect cities to elect their own leaders and not have “emergency managers” imposed on them by rogue governors. That seems somewhat “unnatural.”

At any rate, what role do “other people” (e.g. the federal government) assume when infrastructure is destroyed by a natural disaster, such as a tornado or hurricane?

^ Beat me to it.

It seems that they WERE doing, in Flint, exactly what Benvolio SAYS they're supposed to do - the Emergency Manager WAS making "local" decisions.

Never mind that this "decider" was installed in a totalitarian way which actually OVERTURNED the will of the people of Flint who actually voted for local/city officials, who were removed by this local coup d'etat.

Even Syria has signed onto the Paris Accord, leaving the US utterly alone as the only country not to be part of the treaty.

Instead, TrumpCo. apparently intend on turning up at the next Paris Accord Summit with an intent to try to sell coal.

You cannot make this shit up.

Did ya'll note the recent tweet by POTUS denying Climate Change? He mocked the concept by of Global Warming by pointing to the extremely cold temperatures across much of the US in the past week. Concrete thinking.

^ I saw that. I think he either doesn't have a clue (I'm sure it's this one) or he makes more money by denying it (I'm sure it's this one).

Cityboy-stl posted a great comic about this in the 'Trump This' thread:

^ What do you expect from someone who looks at a solar eclipse without eye protection?
