The US X Factor 2011 thread

I was surprised that they let some people through. Such as Simone who didn't remember a single word of the final song. I like Chris Rene, but didn't like that rendition.
 
Yes, I have been watching it regularly. I am liking it so far. There are some good singers.
 
I personally think The X Factor has been extremely entertaining thus far. I follow the UK season currently, too, and I have to say, there is definitely more talent on the US edition so far. I am very interested to see the following weeks at the judges houses; Paula has the incomparable task of mentoring the groups. Best of luck to her... I also found it interesting that Nicole was given the over 30's, considering she is the youngest judge. I was certain Nicole would get the groups, Paula the over 30's, Simon the girls, and LA the boys. I definitely think the girls are the strongest - that little Nicole can SING! I also love Tiah, like Simon, I see such star potential in her. It is going to be so tough for the judges to narrow down to just 4 contestants/groups each!
 
Just curious, how are people watching the UK version if you don't live in the UK?
 
I liked the girls, both groups. The guys were ok. That one guy with the shaved eyebrows and lines was awful. Why the hell would you sing "Everybody wants to rule the world"? Love the song, but when you are trying to get from 32 to 16...you should pick a song that would blow everyone away.
 
My 2 favorites so far from the "Judges Houses" are Stacy Francis (over 30) and Drew Ryniewicz (females under 30).

First I have to mention how fuckin hot Enrique and Pharrell are, even in HD.

The over 30s was boring to me. That Stacy Francis can sing obviously but it's just too much. And that bitch always cries.

i cant stand that little boy rapper. I want him to go. But clearly Rihanna and LA think he's the bee's kness.

The groups were kinda meh. Those girls still clearly all want to be solo artists despite their sisterhood bullshit. The other made up group has way too many people. They should have let all those litttle girls go home and did the 4 boys on their own. The boys could actually be a really amazing group as a foursome.

My favorite of the girls was the really pretty black girl who fucked up her audition. There's something kinda unique about her.

Just to note - I believe that the song choices at the judges houses were made by the judges, not the contestants. Meaning, LA would have chosen that song.
Not that I am at all arguing your point though - yes it was an awful song choice, no matter who chose it, and yes it was an AWFUL performance.

Through sites like youtube that post the full UK episodes and such. Much better and worth it. I would suggest go back to watch the 2008 season to now :gogirl:(!) fabulous!
 
Wow...I don't agree with some of the judges' decisions. Especially Nicole! Why would you bring Dexter aka James Brown along. He isn't going to go far.

These are the ones I question

Paula - Lakoda Raine - Really? You even said that they sounded off. They were horrible. Intensity was ok, but I am really surprised this group went through. Glad the Brewer Boys made it.

Nicole - Oh jeez. You bring Dexter, Josh, and Laroy along. I don't like Dexter, Josh is ok, and I think Laroy is boring and safe. I would have like to see Elaine better.

LA - I can't believe that he is bringing along Astro, the 14 year old rapper. Boring! Also Philip the crooner probably won't make it far either.
 
Paula is still crazy as hell. Lakoda Rayne are 4 bimbos who still clearly are trying to be solo acts. I love those 10 kids though. I still think it is too many but they are adorable and seemed to really love each other. The boys are all cute n perfect but Id get rid of the little girl and the Asian girl.

Nicole is even nuttier with her choices. Dexter is horrible. And honestly Stacy Francis gets on my last damn nerve. She is the worst oversinger and she is so melo-fuckin-dramatic. And who in the hell is gonna buy Laroy's album.

Simon's choices were fine except maybe Tiah. I hope she gets better weave for live shows. But now I feel like all the judges should get 5 choices.

And as for LA, I'm still on the fence about Brennin. He's kind of a cocky douche, who thinks he's way hotter than he is but still...
 
I agree that Nicole made a big mistake with Dexter. I feel sorry for the guy, but he does not deserve to go on to the live show. I hope he proves me wrong.
 
The ending made me cry. Amaro deserved a shot especially over Crow.
 
Well last night's live show proved that even the judges make stupid decisions regarding song choices. I thought that Dexter singing Katy Perry "I kissed a girl" was an extremely odd choice.

Also, Paula picking Faith and some other song for the Brewer Boys screwed them. I wished they went on. Then LA picking that song for Philip was horrible. I was surprised how harsh the judges were to some of Simon's contestants.
 
LA never like Phillip....I was shocked when he put him through to the live show to begin with...then he chooses a freakin' Monkees song for him?! Are you kidding me?!

Chris Renee was baaaaad....even though Phillip had the Monkees...he was still better than Chris.

I felt bad for The Brewer Boys...I really liked them. Intensity are good for what they are...but it just reminds me way to much of American Juniors...lol...and that blonde girl Emily cannot sing.

The booting of Dexter Haygood was the best part of the show...dude honestly thought he was good....he should not have even been on the show after he BUTCHERED that Beyonce song at Judges House

Melanie and Drew were fantastic(though I didn't think it was Melanie's best...she kinda got a bit pitchy hitting the higher notes...but even her worst was incredible)
 
I love Simone. Simon picked an awful song for her. She's not a Whitney or Mariah like Melanie but she really has the X-Factor. She's like Nicki Minaj mixed with Katy Perry and she's beautiful. I love her video she plugged at the end:

Wow....I honestly really like Simone's song/video...and LOVE the Clueless reference! I always liked her and Simon really did her no favor by picking that song for her.
