Barbara announced today that the fifth permanent host of The View, replacing Star Jones, will make her debut on Monday.

So, bets on who it will be? Supposedly, the front runners (since the deal with Sherri Shepard reportedly fell through) are Kathy Griffin and Jaque Reid.

I would DIE if Kathy Griffin joined the show. That would be my gay heaven.

Aww..what happened with Sherri? I think she is hilarious! But I love Kathy as well. But do you really think Barbs will put up Kat's antics every day?

That's kinda mean making her appear on the show for a week like this.

Supposedly, there was a dispute over salary.

In all honesty, I don't think they would have two black hosts, even if Sherri is a bit more conservative and Whoopi is more liberal. Producers may think that having two women of color may be a bit too "diverse".

If the producers are going for credibility, I don't think they'd hire another comedian, whether it was Kathy or Sherri. That would put three liberal-leaning comedians on the panel. However, Rosie proved that contraversy sells the show and brings in huge ratings. So, who knows what they'll find more important - credibility or ratings?

I totally agree. There is no way they are putting to blacks on that show. I don't care how liberal they are suppose to be. It would be too much "color".

Kathy was banned from the View I dont think they'd hire her and her "base" is LA, her agents her contacts her staff, her house her mom its too much of a move to NYC her career would suffer if her act was just "the view gossip" instead of hollywood parties

They unbanned her and have had her on the panel this summer. where have you been?

I do agree that her comedic career would suffer if she started working for the View. I think it's this reason that she probably wont be joining the show if offered. Even though she jokes about this, Kathy Griffen makes some serious money on the road.

isn't it heavy
that chip on shoulder
really don't you realize we're all human beings

you don't say you're a racist, but damn you are.
biggest one of them all

I'm hoping it's Sherri she is funny, but Kathy would be a good addition too.

Yes, Sherri Shepherd is the new fifth permanent host of The View. And rightly so--she got there because she is funny, intelligent, great with guests, and strong. And she happens to be black. Like Whoopi. Making that two of the four/five hosts (depending on whether Barbara is there that day or not).

Sooooooo...would you like to have some ketchup to eat your words with?

Yeah People Magazine already announced that Sherri got the job.

So.......let's all pretend to be surprised on Monday, ok???

Wow....I might start watching The View now. Sherri Shepherd is hilarious!

anyone else really bored with Whoopie so far? I miss Rosie...I mean I like Whoopie...love her stand up and her movies and everything...but so far I mean yeahi it's only been 3 shows...but i dunno...I don't really feel her clicking with the show yet.

but I"m excited for Sherri!

As I person, I prefer Whoopie. As a host, Rosie is a bit more interesting. IMO

I think Whoopi is great. I miss Rosie, though.

Rosie's problem was that she tried to make a fight out of everything. But, her harshness aside, she really is a very intelligent and educated person. She knew what she was talking about, even if she did talk about it a little too loudly.

Whoopi is very educated, too, but with less of an edge. I could see her getting into some heated debates, too, especially if Elizabeth and Sherri start ganging up for God too much.
