The Walking Dead [merged]

Fuck spoilers....if you didn't watch it when it aired or shortly thereafter on dvr......you aren't a real fan. Furthermore, if you hadn't seen it yet, don't get on a social media site such as this on a thread titled "walking dead" and expect not to read details.....wtf people.?????

It's not like I've got inside scoop on next weeks death.....or do I????.....spoiler alert......Daryl gets his taint licked by Carl.

There are some real idiots on here:jasun:

Right, because you might not have DVR and been forced to work that evening. Or maybe you had a family emergency (Those things never plan themselves for convenience), or had some other valid reason for missing it.

Furthermore, if you hadn't seen it yet, don't get on a social media site such as this on a thread titled "walking dead" and expect not to read details.....wtf people.?????
Right because humanity really is worse than zombies in that all decency has long since left the race, to the point that there is no expectation of courtesy that someone take a few seconds to write "spoiler alert" when sharing such a detail of the show. OK, Governor, you can adjust your eye patch now.

Never figured you for a pedo, but here you go jumping straight to that......... (nothing more needs to be said there)

Yes you are.

I hated last night's episode....

I know right, especially the scene with the governor and the "slide show" images behind him. I was like "WTF?"

I just remember season 2 with Sophia and then Shane and the walker stampede and I was completely blown away. That was the last amazing season. They HAVE to get back to GOOD story telling and for the life of me with Kirkman, I don't understand why they can't.

To me, the trip to this abandoned suburb would have been so much more interesting if we had begun to learn what really happened -- a note scrawled on a piece of paper, words in blood, some clue or even some different information about the apocalypse. We saw chopped up body parts and torsos in a truck but the episode was too focused on Tyrese and mind you, just after Beth's death. Ugh! And being bitten by a boy walker? Come on.

This is what I wanted you all to know:

The news of Frank Darabont stepping down from AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead took everyone by surprise. This feeling grew even more when it was revealed that Darabont didn’t step down, but was actually fired.

Now he was very much of season 1 and 2. Then after he left and Shane too, TWD lost its stride at the prison under showrunner Glen Mazzara. And after Glen imo, the show has gotten even worse!

I'm afraid that I am gonna have to disagree with you on the point you make about how the show has gotten worse. But of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally believe however that the show has maintained A very high level of quality, even after Frank Darabont left. Now I will admit that I think Darabont is A genius masterful filmmaker, and I think he added A wonderful touch to the series. And it's very unfortunate that he wasn't able to stay on for whatever reason. But at the end of the day I believe that this show has such A talented writing, and producing team that they will be just fine. And I actually read something the other day that stated that the creators of the show would like to make at least 12 seasons since of course the show is based off of A comic book series they said that gives them plenty of material to work with for the next couple of years.

So I think as long as they can keep maintaining A high level of quality, and of course if the all important ratings continue to be strong enough I believe they have A very good chance of getting there. I also hear that they have A spin-off series in the works as well. Now I will admit that I am not that crazy on the idea of another show coming out at the same time that the original show is still on the air. But with that being said with Robery Kirkman involved with this new show that makes me feel better, and I will withhold my judgment until I see the first couple of episodes. But one last note that I do wanna make is that I believe that the current showrunner Scott Gimple who is A very talented individual in his own right is doing A wonderful job with this show, and I do hope that he stays on as showrunner for A very long time to come.

Oh crap typo in my last message toward the end that should say Robert not “Robery” crazy me don’t you hate it when that happens LOL.

Hearing different opinions is good. I was riveted by season 1 and 2 and I WANT to continue my interest in the show. Yes, high production values and acting are important but what is absolutely VITAL is GREAT story writing. The crew can battle one bad situation after another but then it all becomes pointless if there isn't some overarching plot. A comic book can go on forever and some do, but a show or movie are different. They need to have different pacing. I think that's why LOST was so pointless and I worry that TWD could become pointless in its own way.
I have said and will say again -- the zombie apocalypse aspect needs to be folded back into the story line -- how did this happen, how far reaching, where did it come from, etc, etc, not just more depraved human behavior and you can bet your bottom dollar that the story is going to the latter (again) for the remainder of the season.

...and you can bet your bottom dollar that the story is going to the latter (again) for the remainder of the season.

That remains to be seen. And I do intend to see.

As for an overarching plot I think you've missed the main one from the beginning. The idea of retaining one's humanity, even after the world has gone to shit. I find the irony of fellow humans as the most inhumane element, as opposed to the no longer human zombies, as an interesting part of the story

Well, yah, I get that and of course human dynamics are always at play but if the story is going to just be our group encountering one sick and twisted group after another, the plot will become mind numbing. To say, "Oh, it's not even about the walkers anymore," well, that's no fun. There was a hint at how one might come down with the virus with Beth and Shane respectively at the farm house. Did you not see how Shane was becoming walker-like the more stressed he became with Randall? I wish that had been pursued. How scary would it be if someone was one highly stressed person one day, but awoke eating someone the next?!

But the plot has never been about that. Yes there is the dynamic of one group vs another. But the greater dynamic is the internal and local interpersonal strife. Will there be a powerplay between Rick and Michone? Will Daryl step up to lead? Will the group split over ideals? There is still much to be known. The outward stuff of other groups just adds, as does the zombie apocalypse backdrop. If you are too focused looking for one specific item you miss all the rest of it.

I feel like those questions are somewhat interchangeable and not entirely relevant. The writers have already shown that no character is safe from demise so the dynamic will always be shifting anyhow.

Yes, much to be known but the writers haven't been forthcoming.

Yeah, because they could answer ALL those answers in one short episode if they really wanted to.

All of your questions or mine? To answer yours:

1) No
2) No
3) Probably

What I'm looking for are some answers about the virus like how is it that over a year has passed and the walkers aren't into major disintegration? What about Rick's theory that the winter temps would literally freeze them? Where did the virus come from? How is everyone infected? Is it mutating or could it? How widespread? Last we heard at the CDC is that the French almost had a solution. You know, stuff like that. Not more dumb character goodbye episodes.

Not sure if I liked or hated this episode but having another death so soon after Beth's worked as it was a shock, I didn't think it would happen for a few episodes. Nice to see a few returning faces though.

I don't mean to be rude when I say this, but I HIGHLY doubt most of those questions will be addressed. The Walking Dead comics aren't about the zombies, it's about the people and the same goes for the tv series. Robert Kirkman has already stated that if he could change one episode of the series it would be the CDC episode because he does not like to get into those questions about how widespread the virus is and if there might be a cure. The whole concept of Kirkman's comics are that the survivors are the walking dead, not the zombies. Rick finally brought that up in last night's episode.

Any ideas on where Aaron came from?

Between my partner and I we've come up with these two suggestions:

1) He is/was a part of Terminus and is secretly looking for revenge. There was some talk about the group being larger, and more spread out, than expected.

2) He is a part of that group that Rick, Hershel and Glen ran into back in the bar when they still had Hershel's farm, finally caught up with them and wanting revenge.

There IS the possibility that he's a "genuine nice guy", but he has the signal flare to communicate with somebody. He's a little TOO clean to be on the road like them. Where did he get all that water from...... If that was his/his group's water supply he wouldn't have done anything to it, but he would likely expect that Rick & co would be too cautious to take it anyway. If he's part of 1) they are paranoid enough to assume everybody else is also, and if he's part of 2) he would already suspect Rick's paranoia.

Another thought to consider, there are those marks that were being left on the trees (the ones Morgan was following). Is that possibly a 3rd group out there, one as yet unknown? In any case Aaron knew Rick by name so the group must have been watching for some time..... But he didn't seem to know anybody else's name in the group, or at least he use them. Is he with Morgan and they are trying to join up?????

Yeah, I know..... a whole lot of conjecture off of just a small bit of a scene from the previews of what's coming next week. But isn't that the reason they offer those little previews, to get people speculating?

Any other thoughts?

I thought last night's episode was paced and written well.

He certainly did seem like a Terminite but unlikely. He did know Rick's name and I think in a preview I saw him with images of the prison fence. Being TWD, this does not bode well for the group.

I don't feel like he's part of Randall's group either. Their m.o. was all about being brutish. This guy's m.o. is the opposite!

I gather this guy is part of the group who ransacked the suburban development and cut off the limbs of its inhabitants, put torsos in the truck, and that woman in the trunk of the car!
