Yeah, dude. AMC wanted to do a test run first, so they only ordered 6 eps for the first season. But since it's now their highest rated show, I believe they've announced they're doing 12 eps for season 2.

Re: The walking dead

Great series.

I like 28 days later and loved the remake of Dawn of the Dead but zombies should not be able to run. Dead things are decaying.
Say a zombie epidemic occurred it would be a limited cycle because the law of natures would apply and dead cells decay, break down, fall apart - won't work, turn to mush - earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Things would just rot off and fall apart plus those dead that are trying to eat the livings would be eaten themselves by bacteria, fungi, & parasites like maggots. Flys and maggots would quickly do to the zombies which living humans cannot.

Not all animals need fresh killed meat either.

Where are the dogs? I mean my neighborhood is loaded with dogs. There are almost more dogs then people in the surrounding urban neighborhood. Dogs will eat carrion and dogs would be roaming everywhere in packs tearing the shit out of slow poke smelly good eating zombies.
Big birds, they could come out of the wood work along with the bot flies to have a field day.

Hey this is in Atlanta or Georgia. Pigs, lot of pig farms in western central GA. There would be hundreds of pigs running in herds and they are crafty , & mean and have no problem eating anything when they get hungry enough. Pigs would be with dogs eating the shit out of zombies.

Zombie series can only be a short term project before its horror impact as a monster thriller is lost in the hot sun of decayed flesh as they turn into rotting water balloons filled with pus quicker in Florida.... and Georgia then say Juneau .

I would like to see them apply some actual science to zombies like this. How long could the dead walk b4 these things wiped them out? 1 year, 5 years, 10 years? longer?

Good thought, they have yet to explain all that much about how all that happened, perhaps they could explain how the Zombies exist, ya know some plausible scientific facts to make the show more believable in a fun sort of way.I am not suggesting Zombies could ever exist but just give us something to think about, as in yeah that could happen. ;)

Re: The walking dead

You know I like the show I'm 2 episodes in but with Ramero's(sp) many, many, many dead rehash movies I feel orininalty with the dead is done. One thing I want to know why essential are all the dead in these things caninbalistic vampires!? seriously why?

Anyway I like the show amased how the do empty streets etc must have to do it 1st thing in the morning. Thought this wouldn't have the budget it did although I'm not familiar with AMC so there you go. Glad the are doing 12 episodes next series sometimes 24/25 is over kill with US shows. Both Showtime and HBO show that 12/13 can be enough.

Re: The walking dead

I agree on these mini series. A plot can only take you so far throughout the living years.

The only shows that last over years are cartoons because the characters never age. There is always something different each week. I have yet never seen a cartoon say "to be continued."

A TV series has to know when and how to end to make it a talk soup/water cooler topic.
"Lost" had a beginning and knew when to make the finale. Other shows always end ahead of their time because they lose the interest of the viewers since no "open end" thought is put in the process. We are left with what happened to characters.
"Mad Men" is ending in 2 to 3 years because the creator/producer says he is not taking the 60's base series into the 70's era. That is a good plan keep viewers until series finale besides it being a great show.
"Smallville" has a good following from the beginning, then viewers was gone in middle but know with this the last year, viewers are tuning in again.

In short (lol) "The Walking Dead" will need to figure a way to keep viewers tuned each week. It is good right now but where is this going in the next few years being that it's dealing with a major population of the dead?

Re: The walking dead

i loved it, and it sucks that this sunday is the season finale to it. but i've noticed that the end of the of last episode they aired has started to stray away from the comic book a bit. It makes me wonder what direction they're gonna go, but i hope they reveal what it was that turned everyone into zombies.

"WHEN HELL IS FULL;
THE DEAD WILL WALK ON EARTH"

Re: The walking dead

This is like the one show I watch religiously. I love me some zombies anyhow, but it's the great characters and how they deal with the situation that has me hooked.

I'm soooooo bummed the this sunday is the season finale, the next season can't come fast enough.

I have a feeling that the place they ended up in the last episode (I don't want to give anything away for anyone who hasn't seen it yet) is not the safe place that they're hoping it will be.

STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!!

The guy from the CDC is trying to find a cure, but he lost his last fresh sample. Where's he gonna get a new sample of fresh zombie? And he seems pretty unhinged. And probably doesn't have a lot of food or rations there. Whu-oh!

Re: The walking dead

AMC is doing a marathon, full re-broadcast of all the episodes leading up to the new one at 10pm (whatever it's usual time is in your area).

I have no life so I'll probably watch.

Re: The walking dead

I cannot wait until season 2 and double the episodes.

Re: The walking dead

So, I've finished the first season, and if you haven't you probably don't want to read what I'm going to write.

While I enjoyed the series, I do lament the fact that it was so short. There feels like a ton of 'loose ends' which weren't tied up by the finale...

Now, some would argue that that's a good thing. That like life, not everything gets resolved, so it adds a bit of realism to it...

But I think the show might have made a major mistake in tonight's finale...

And that was letting the principal cast survive.

I know what you're thinking, that that sounds crazy...But it would make a great deal of sense.

Rick found his family, the survivors found safety for a time, and the world keeps moving forward...But how long are we going to follow these characters?

Don't get me wrong, I quite like the characters they've presented us, but perhaps it would be better for the show to branch out. By trapping and killing the entire principal cast in the CDC, season 2 could have expanded on some of the lose ends.

Season 2 could have followed Morgan and his son; or we could have returned to the 'gang' set up in the nursing home; hell, we could have even had an episode or two of Merle, the one handed redneck...

I think the show is amazing, but they had a great chance to wrap up season 1 and tell a different story in season 2, and I think (for now) that they should have taken the out they built into the story and ran with it.

Of course, if season 2 expands on the current characters and deepens them in unexpected way, I might change my tune...

Re: The walking dead

Here is my response to The_Reaper

I think that it would be disappointing to had them all die in that building, but some of those characters are needed for Season 2. Merle needs to get his revenge on all the characters who left him on that roof meaning T-Dog and Rick.

I was very angry to have Jacqui stay behind but I think that she had no developing story to continue on with since she lost Jim. I could see that she cared a lot about Jim on the show and that after he was bit and left to turn into a zombie that it was very hard for her to go on cause for all she knew she could see Jim as a zombie later on and just be such an emotional wreck.

I'm glad that Andrea went with Dale but I'm surprised that Dale didn't ask Jacqui if that's what she really wanted to do by staying behind. I just hope Season 2 is longer and has more episodes than Season 1.

Re: The walking dead

I like the show but the last episode was the weakest. Didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. I know there won't be any answers. I don't think we ever find out what spread to cause this. I would have liked to see more people eaten at the end, lol.

I agree. There really was no point to the CDC other than it was a indoor set that cost less money to make then taking every thing to a mobile outdoors set where you are dependent on weather and daylight for filming ($$$$).

In fact it was all filler.

There was only one important thing, and that was very important. Came up at 25 minutes into the show. The fact that perhaps the zombies are not dead but some form of unknown virus/bacteria that destroys all functions not related to basic survival. This would explain how a zombie could function without becoming a decayed mess within a short time.

I'm also getting tired of the "We are low or out of gas", Gimme a break they are in the major urban/metro center of Atlanta where vehicles of all sorts and sizes are sitting everywhere. I mean you can't go 5 miles in Georgia anywhere without finding a half dozen Ford F-250's even in the deepest woods.
The same with gun shops, and hunting/fishing stores..............

Sure fuel & guns may be running low because of the big blow out with humans and zombies but that should be the priority, .

There has to be fuel, ammo, & guns around. They would do well to stock up like in the remake of Dawn of the Dead, even hitting the Atlanta Police Headquarters.

By the way it might be a good time to learn how to fire up one of those many dozens of abandon Abrams tanks sitting at the CDC or in the middle of the street.
And try firing up a military HUMVEE over using a jeep wrangler with the top off.
What are these people thinking??? Gee lets travel in a 1985 Jeep Cherokee over the HUMMERS?

13 episodes next season?

Re: The walking dead

When I saw the finale, and it said it will blow up when it runs out of fuel, I said "How will you blow up without fuel?

The last episode did leave a lot to be desired like I said above. I also agree there are cars EVERYWHERE filled with gasoline and better cars to take that are safer. The sad part is all those hot male models out there aimlessly walking around. Question: would you nab a hottie, duct tape his mouth and hands (no biting, scratching) and do him every which way? lol

Re: The walking dead

I'm absolutely loving this series!

It's fascinating how in only a matter of weeks human society, i.e. the survivors, reorganizes itself into the tribal model.
