The Walking Dead [merged]

I'd be surprised if the Gov is killed off. At least this soon. I think he is going to be in the main cast for awhile. Killing him off would be too predictable, and this show is seldom predictable.

I hope he lives for another season, no more than that though, I think the real question is whether or not, Rick and Co. will be at the prison next season.

He can still be on the main cast as a walker... I rest my case! :)

I've been wondering, has the word "zombie" ever been said on this show? We've heard walkers, biters, among other things but I don't recall ever hearing "zombie". I wonder why the show avoids this word. Doesn't seem like a realistic characteristic of a zombie apocalypse world where nobody ever utters the word "zombie". The word has been ingrained into our culture long before 2010 when the story on the show started.

I actually love the fact that they don't use the word. To me, and perhaps to the creators, the word "zombie" possibly takes away from the mood they're trying to convey. When someone actually says Zombie, it's sort of a more sci-fi oriented zombie movie, or something not taken so seriously. It's hard to explain. The mood of the show is very dark, and I love it. It's my favorite zombie-related show/movie ever. It sort of feels like a long zombie movie.

^I agree - I think the word "zombie" has become synonym with something funny - or even something supernatural voodoo related.

I too love it that the show doesn't use the word [and is pretty creative with other terms for it] and that the mood is brooding and dark, almost grim. Perfect.

If I remember correctly, Chris Hardwick asked this question to one of the producers during an interview in the first season. The producer explained they were creating a world where the concept of a zombie didn't exist. So in a real world scenario without even fictional zombies, the terms used would just be the names that people might give them.

^ Agree. The term comes with a lot of baggage and I can see why some writers would want to work around it, especially if they're trying to steer clear of supernatural elements and want to make it more sciency.

For example, I'm currently watching BBC's In The Flesh. The reanimated corpses are derogatorily referred to as "Rotters" but the politically correct term for them is Partially Deceased Persons since they're said to be suffering from Partially Deceased Syndrome.

Once they're caught, they are treated in special hospitals and they get re-integrated back in to their communities with the aid of cosmetics and daily injections for brain function. The term zombie would just be really out of place. And the use of the term PDS makes me sympathize with them more and see it more in medical terms. lol

oh wow this sounds interesting! *on to watch list*

Well that was some ending R.I.P Andrea and OMG Carl is the Governor Jr in training.

I'm bummed. I don't see how they keep killing off original cast members and expect to keep the show going indefinitely. Soon there will be nobody left for us to really care about and keep watching.

Except for Carl. I'm bummed he survived another season.

Other than Carl talking shit, this was a good episode. I had to stop my TV for a sec to say "wth" after Rick didn't knock the shit out of Carl for smarting off and walking off. Someone next season is going to put him in his place but the way Rick is acting, i doubt it will be him. I would have knocked that Sheriff's had down his lil throat and he would be on babysitting duty for a while. I bet some teen girl will be in the group for him to befriend next season. The Gov is gone off his rocker. He sure as hell gonna lose when he realize everyone has left Woodbury. I guess we got another season of the Gov but he isn't much with a 2 man army. I guess he will have to think of some other way. I doubt he makes it thru a whole season though. With all the chit chatting Andrea did, she needed to get bit. I would have been loose before Milton made it to the dark side but no she wanna shed tears and be all sentimental and shit. I also wanted a "I'm Sorry" from her ass to Michonne for ditching her ass like that. Now another long ass wait. Why couldn't this show and True Blood run right after each other.

That is what happened in the comics, people die.

I actually like the fact that they're not afraid of killing off a lot of the original casts. It makes it a lot more "real" and that no one is safe in a zombie apocalypse.

But it's still a show with a story to tell. It's going to be hard to keep the story going if it ends up with no familiar characters. This is drama, not real life (as if I really have to remind people of the obvious.)

The phuq was that??

I'm done.

See you back here in October, sis. ;)

As for me, the episode was solid, just not finale-material.

Also, Yvette Nicole Brown on the season finale of the Talking Dead was genius. Love ha! Chad was extra, tho...

Yeah that was my thought too. After the way last season ended, I was expecting so much. It was very underwhelming

And I agree. She's funny as hell! Chad was cool but only spoke when spoken to. So it seemed to me at least

Even though the gov said it, I thought it was the best line.

"In this world now, it's kill or die, or die and kill."

Michonne just needs to take out the gov and Carl, the gov Jr.
