the walking dead

Tonight's episode did not disappoint - no spoilers - but that's 5 of 6 till next season.

Anyone else out there watch it twice? Back to back? (yeah, a little addicted here). AMC airs it three times, I think, on Sundays and I always watch it a second time to re-see those WTF moments - what just happened?

I know AMC would never do this, but a Sunday night with Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead would be amazing. But it would be overload. Almost TOO much quality TV in one setting. I'd have to watch Two and Half Men just to re-balance.

Never heard of it before. Is that Andrew Lincoln playing American-for-pay?

yes that is him, and he is the only reason i started watching. i think it is good and i liked the way the episode ended tonight-visually speaking. hopefully s2 will be made of up more episodes.

I have been watching. Love it! I have looked through the comic trade and it follows what is going on almost panel to panel. So if you can't wait get the trades. I bought trade #1 today for $6 at a used bookstore. I also wanna say AMC has become the best channel to watch. I love Mad Men also. USA and FX and local stations all do the same bullshit shows. I just saw an advertisement for another new show featuring a young female lawyer who does wild out of the box stuff. YAWN. How many cops/FBI/Crime lab and lawyer shows can these stations keep turning out?! It kinda pisses me off that they can't seem to come up with anything else. I really don't even watch TV much anymore. Seen it all. I watch this and Smallville and will watch V and that's it. Glad AMC takes chances. Whatever series they pop out next I will watch.

my other half has been nagging at me to watch it with him, im not a big zomby fan, so i have not been watching, but if you guys say to watch it, i will.....we have been dvring it, so i will check it oot tonight.

It's such a fun show to watch. I can't believe the first season is only 6 episodes long. Almost done. :/

I'm liking it even though the female characters leave a lot to be desired. At some point, I hope they get to do more than cry and do laundry.

You mean like the gal that stayed on the ground holding her chewed apart dead sister in her arms in the hot & humid 100 degree Atlanta heat until she came back as a zombie and put the gun to her temple blowing her sisters stinky brains all over herself?
Or the battered woman who went ape shit with the pick-ax on her husbands head?
Or the main characters (cop) wife who seems to be a leader and commands the respect of all the other survivors so far in what to do and also stood up to the wife beater and has the other deputy so pussy wiped?

The hubby got me hooked watching it; went back and watched all the episodes I had missed "On Demand." I have to admit it keeps one in suspense....

^ Doesn't make up for the shows problematic approach to gender roles so far.

Let me know when bitches actually get shit done on the show. So far, it's only been the men doing stuff and the women have been background noise.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
Well in the last episode, the "bitches got shit done" fishing and brought in a huge catch :p

I agree with everyone else in this thread, awesome show. The key to it's success is that the show takes the plot seriously and plays on your emotions with characters and their situation. No jokes or fooling around, 100% raw emotion and survival. Plus the great job on making zombies look real. Can't wait for more.

Watched it

No gay people for 5 episodes

So I kept it moving

Sike naw, I LOVE that effing show like no other. Rick or whatever his name is is hot as hell.

Not the main character the guy who was banging his wife.

You don't know that there were no gays. Some of those zombies could have been gay. I thought I saw a drag queen zombie in episode 3. lol

*quasi-spoiler alert*

i think my favorite part may have been the aftermath of the zombie attack on the camp in episode 4.

the way it ended... damn.

Well, you know how I am with gore and whatnot #-o...

Nah it's not too bad overall. Watch out for the horse scene and part of episode 4, but for the most part this show is less about the actual zombies and more about the emotional roller coasters that humans go through when facing with horrible odds. It's really much more drama than horror.

I hate how the zombies are 'smart' (they run ) since I prefer old-fashioned zombies, but the series is far better than some crappy zombie shit out there (no I'm not talking about Dawn of the Dead series ).

And Andrew Lincoln looks damn good in there :luv:

Love love love this show. Its the only show I make time to watch on TV, and I have alarms set on my computer and my phone to make sure I don't miss it.

This show is awesome. It really is! I have yet to meet a person face to face who does not like The Walking Dead!

I must agree with an earlier post about the gender roles though. Most of the ladies on board seem to be barely getting by whereas the men are all fighting and kicking ass... It's weird to see old school gender stereotypes on such a modern show. It makes it feel like maybe it's a period piece? Like Mad Men?

That said, I don't have any other complaints about the show. The acting has thus far been superb. The special effects extraordinary for television. The storyline absolutely compelling. I really must say that this show has thus far been a highpoint in the zombie genre.
