The World without the US on Climate Change

It seems Representative Walberg has explained why we don't need the Paris Accord:

If there a problem I'm sure God will take care of it. So why are they so upset that Obamacare isn't working and they need to do something about it, I'm sure if there is a problem God will take care of it.

Today is the day I swear I won't even vote for a California Republican ever again..for any reason...

I hold every Republican and Conservative responsible for the events today..forever.....

I will never change my mind..AND I WILL NEVER FORGET. They are my enemy. They are the enemy of the entire planet.

My Republican friends..about half the people I know...I will withdraw from them slowly and without a word. I don't even want to discuss it with them and they will never know why. I hate them now.

The environment was maybe THE most important issue for me.....it was always in the top three....

Hitchens said religion poisons everything is 100% accurate.

Well, to be fair, God created 'climate'. he didn't create Obamacare. He doesn't do very well taking care of things that He didn't create, like planes which fall out of the sky or ships that sink in the ocean or buses full of school kids driving off bridges. Stuff like that.

I guess the large number of churches in the U.S. pushing the government to do something about climate change are "poisoning" things then -- right?

And the hospital here that gives huge discounts to most people because they're run by a church full of people who donate to it is "poisoning" things -- right?

And World Vision, a Christian organization driven by religious motives, should stop feeding the millions of children it takes care of, because they're "poisoning" things -- right?

And the churches with shelters for the homeless should chase those people back out on the streets, because their religion is "poisoning" things -- right?

See, from your statement I have to conclude that you think the government should do nothing about climate change, that people shouldn't get help with medical bills, that children should be allowed to starve, and that the homeless should just stay homeless.

I'm not sure how Trump can expect anyone supporting him on this to win in Florida. If Greenland all melts, it will save the Everglades by making a major portion of that state part of them.

I am a conservative and I believe the principal includes conserving the parks, the wilds, the whole planet. I do not believe that any Republican is a conservative. To them it is a brand. I will not hate this selfish and sinful lot. I, too, will never EVER forget.

These "large number of churches" use LOGIC and did not use religion to solve problems.
Therefore religion still poisons everything. ;)

This all sort of affirms my belief on the subject from many years ago. That while it is all well and good to try and reach some agreement to prevent or reduce climate change, it was always the best bet to assume it wouldn't happen. Humans are too short sighted to see that far ahead and a Trump coming along to throw a spanner in the works is inevitable. The best bet for mankind has always been to plan and prepare for the assumption that no realistic effort will be made to prevent climate change and we should put our efforts and resources into efforts to mitigate the worse of it rather than prevent it.

one person said it well---being the fascist thug that he is---he likes to make decrees ---like the Muslim ban---like we are out of climate change---makes his little dick get a semi----he's been a total failure in terms of actually passing a bill---because that takes work ---and he is clearly lazy and stupid---but making a decree and having people go WOW---that turns him on.

I posted this morning in the venting thread about this. Whatever support he may have had in Europe is fast disappearing. The USA had a lot of leeway in the Accord, and much of it was not legally binding.

He is playing to his acolytes in the rust belt.

I stand corrected...and you are right. It isn't necessarily conservatives.....

I hope that conservatives define themselves now more clearly and separate.....DT and the Republicans are officially "evil" in my eyes. I was always a step away from thinking this as it was...this sealed the deal. To leave a planet desecrated so some billionaires can make a few more dollars with less regulations is pure evil IMO.

Here is some beautiful drama that is not shallow, is not selfish, or FAKE: Beautiful hope.

I consider Macron the new leader of the Free World. It gave me hope when he was elected.....

I also believe our Governor Jerry Brown and the California Legislator will adopt statewide standards to adhere to the Paris Agreement. ...and forget the guy in Alabama who says California doesn't matter. We are the world's 6th largest economy...and a successful one. We also CONTRIBUTE whereas states like Alabama TAKE from the system they whine about....take from states like California..

Just look at the MOST Federally Dependent States...and you will see the TRUE hypocricy of the Republican Party...and just how evil they have become. They collectively complain the loudest about Federal Spending..and they take the most and blame the Democrats YET they are mostly Red states....go figure...

BTW...thanks for the video...I loved it....

I wonder if Trump knows this?

Paris (AFP) - The earliest possible date for America's official withdrawal from the climate-rescue Paris Agreement is just a day after the country's next presidential election.

Could the timing thwart Donald Trump's plans to quit the 196-nation deal?

- The rules of engagement -

In the hard-fought pact's own wording, a party may withdraw by giving written notification "any time after three years" of its entry into force -- which was on November 4, 2016.

This means November 4, 2019 at the earliest if Trump, who announced Thursday that the United States was "getting out" of the deal, were to use this option.

The withdrawal would take effect only a year later -- on November 4, 2020 -- the day after America's next presidential election -- potentially leaving a very small window for intervention if there is a new leader friendly to the Paris Agreement.

Just one more way for Trump to make it look like he's doing something? Just one more way to pump up his supporters by saying, "Hey, look! I'm Making America Great Again!"

Smoke and mirrors. That's all it is.

Ha! I didn't realize Jerry Brown and California already had a plan and intend to stand with Paris and the agreement..along with New York and Washington State...so Kentucky and the rest of Trump's faithfuls can go fuck themselves...
