the world's worst tourists LOL

Most Europeans will say the best tourists are the Germans until they start drinking, the worst tourists are the French until they start drinking, and the anti-social illiterate savages known as the Brits are in a league of their own. Nothing human compares to them. They can out-vandalize babboons on crack cocaine. And that's just the middle class.

Oh, I don't know. Aussie's are loud and embarrassing and can be ugly after a few beers, American's are just so naive and LOUD they make you cringe, Japanese are cringeworthy from their shear exuberance and stupidity when outside their own country. Poms are offensive, Germans are arrogant and steal the best seats beside the pool, Kiwi's are really excited and naive and awestruck by all of it, the French can be superior and arrogant, Sth Africans feel the world owes them a favour.

So gee, hard to pick, really. (!)(!);) And for the record, I am Aussie, I was born a Kiwi and I love meeting tourists from all walks of life, had a ball when I was in Sth Africa and have been to the US many times for a holiday because I love the country...... Ultimately, we're probably all "on the nose" when outside our home countries. The tourist rubs against our inner prejudices. Especially the LOUD Americans..... :D;)

A bit off topic, but does anyone remember where the dumbshit that broke off a piece of the famous Easter Island statues was from. He said he wanted something to remeber the place by so it would be okay to break it. They are not old or anything.:grrr:

As a french I know that we are pretty aweful tourists

A commendably balanced view from Ruritania. No wonder most Britons would like to leave the EC.

Oh, and by the way, this illiterate savage can actually spell Baboon.

Drunk, foulmouthed male Australians and their female Australian counterparts.

Touchy subject for you, eh?

Now fly over to Prague during summer, and watch your brethren working for their reputation :)

I know the sort of people you mean, but I don't think for one minute that the majority of Britons are like that. I don't go near those types here, so I'll not be taking up your suggestion of visiting Prague to see them in action there.

Coming from a tourist city, I'd have to say that American visitors do have an unmatched reputation for crassness, whilst the Japanese are probably the most cringeworthy.

I was in Paris once and saw this. A large woman in a disneyland t-shirt, shorts, socks and sandals. Yelling at the waiter. DONT YOU SPEAK AMERICAN?
From that point on I told people I was from canada, lol.

I'm with you there jayden. As a reluctant to admit American. We are the worst ever. I took a trip to Germany and you could spot the loud obnoxious people from back home a mile away. Incidentally I went on vacation partly because I couldn't deal with them anymore at home but they somehow followed me, barking orders at waiters in fine dining restaurants like they were ordering in a mcdonalds, drinking themselves retarded and insulting everyone they saw with the were number one bullshit that just makes you cringe. I'd take the snootiest Frenchman anyday over one of us and really don't know why people say aussies, yeah as a culture their kinda loud but always turn out to be the fun loving down to earthy type...love em.

American tourists tend to be a bit rude and think the whole world is like them, when I went to europe, our host family was telling as their traditions and my friends were like "well we do it this way in America". I was like...uhm..you're making our country look bad...

I don't know much about others though, but apparently east asian people like to take pictures (All my friends have these big-ass digitial cameras they bring everywhere) so I think it's true =P.
Margaret Cho said:
Oh, you cannot take pictures in here, I know about you guys, you guys like to take yourself sum pictures
As for Germans, I've met a few that were racially retarded. BOTH of which were surprised I didn't own a restaurant...but I doubt 2 is enough to make a judgment.

OMG, I LOL'D so hard.

Just listened to this interesting article on the radio about tourism. The Brits are the most hated tourists as rated by EU members, the Japanese are the most loved. But then the article went on to say how the Canadians LOVE the Brits but hate the Yanks.

The big kicker is all the Bucks and Hens parties that now want to fly off to the EU for the weekend out of UK ports. Apparently this isn't something the Europeans understand and thus the Brits are seen as been loud obnoxious drunks.

We sleep in the bed we make.

I live in Ft. Lauderdale, and we have a lot of tourists there, especially since it's a gay mecca. I can't honestly say that I've ever had a bad experience with tourists (except for the French Canadians, maybe). But I've had a LOT of really GREAT experiences with the gay guys I've met! Lots of fun.

The EC, which refused to accept Britain as a member for sixteen years, was rechristened the EU around the time I was born. Also, I live in Venezia, eat your heart out, not in Anthony Hope's Ruritania, which actually reminded me of Yorkshire, only less rainy.

As for the baboon typo, shall we compare my English to your German and Italian?

Wha'evah!

Americans are the most polite.
What Europeans are irritated about is the total lack of cultural insight Americans normally have.

Americans are loud, polite, helpful and respectful. Which is why they usually get a culture shock among those secretive, rude, indifferent Europeans.

As for their "total lack of cultural insight", that's the best thing about Americans: open eyes and an uncluttered mind, to quote Gandhi. They know what they don't know and are willing to learn and rethink. Europeans are full of preconceived ideas they are unable to shed. Especially the idea that America can learn more from Europe than Europe from America. We can both learn.
