It's "America". Period.

Just like there is no "Asia", but "Eurasia"

True that.

Just because we use 'North' 'Central' and 'South' doesn't mean that there are three of them.

^ Isn't there-. And not as lengthy as some others in the same vein

Geographically speaking there's only North America and South America. And the border, in case you wondered, is the Panama Canal. A man-made border? Well yes, just like between Africa and Asia.

Not accounting for the Panama and Suez Canals, Afro-Eurasia is a single continent, and so is America or the Americas.

Central America is a vague term: to some it includes Mexico, to others only the Isthmus countries. But geographers have not defined it.

Actually, the largest continent on earth is called Afro-Eurasia.

Used to be

What we said

Is this the new politically correct way to identifying geographical locations?

There is no such place as America. There is only Earth. Actually, scratch that. There is no such place as anywhere. There is only the universe.

^ Actually, there is Nothing... ok, rather, "nothing"

yeah ... too much extreme of politically correct thingy becomes meaningless when people cannot say anything much in fear of making an offense.

Why does the United States of "America" include an island that is not part of any continent?

Do the meaning of words no longer matter?

You mean Barbra Streisand's tip of the [STRIKE]nose[/STRIKE] ego

I found an interesting word for that. Circumlocution-- the use of many words where fewer would do, especially in attempts to be vague or evassive. Sounds exactly right.

No. "Circumlocution" is more literally "beating about/around the bush": the consequence of that beating would be the many words but, actually, you can build quite a laconic circumlocution. But you know how language works, and how the secondary ends up being the primary.

No, these fears becomes grievances, wanting to get even and pay back time :)

Ok, right: "could" be treated, then

There is a country that changed continents. Panama was considered part of South America while it was part of Colombia from 1821 to 1903. When it became an independent country on November 3, 1903 ("Separation Day" in Panama) it became considered part of Central America, hence part if the continent of North America.

What about Canada or Australia?

No such thing as continents. There is only the universe.
