FEAR THE LIBERAL DETENTE!
Hmmm, speaking for the fans of the "hot quickie," out there, no guy who does the hook up is trying to be your boyfriend. That's the nature of the beast. Nice guys will tell you this upfront. You need to listen to that when they do. If he says he's just looking for a hot time, don't convince yourself that means you are on a date. You aren't.
Guys doing the hook up are also in it for selfish reasons (barring the subs out there.) They are in it to get off. There's nothing wrong with that so long as everyone's being honest. You get to decide if that's something YOU are capable of dealing with. Because he's probably expecting you to be playing by the same rules.
Of course there are plenty of guys who are not nice guys. Experience will give you a better chance at weeding these guys out. But no matter what the guys is like, DON'T EVER ASSUME the hookup is more than it is. Even if you've been "chatting," with the guy. I can't tell you how much needless net drama comes through this board.
So much for generalities.
Specifically, and bluntly, you presented too much work with too little payoff. This isn't something negative about you, it's a virgin thing. You never know what you're going to get with a virgin - as has been pointed out. Some guys really get off on the virgin thing, some guys really don't. Since the other guy knew that you were virgin going in, that probably means he's not that much more experienced than you are, considering the result.
Don't sweat it. First times are usually awkward and bad sex. Obviously, you don't know what the fuck you're doing, you don't really know what's going to get you off, and you don't really know what you're looking for.
Some guys think that at first you should find one guy and do the relationship thing, and that may work for some guys, but never forget, that aside from on boards like this one, most of the guys you run into are going to be fine with the hot quickie. Especially young guys, gay or straight.
Personally I think that the more experience you get, the better a lover you become. Only learning one guy - no matter how many times you have sex with him - doesn't really broaden the horizons. Plus, I'm a fan of variety.
And there is nothing wrong with that either if that's how you turn out to be.
