Things straight people say?

Tbh, observation and experience has taught me that it doesn’t really matter what their political alignment is, straight people in general are complete and utter mooks when it comes to anything relating to gay culture (or whatever you wanna call it), and being respectful about it. When it isn’t blatantly homophobic conservatives spouting hateful shit, it’s igorant of their own ignorance progressivists who ask dumb questions, and make eyebrow-raising comments. (Although, to be fair, the latter is almost always young, inept college kids who can’t get it through their thick, little minds that not every gay guy is a flaming queen.)

The most homophobic people I have met have been out queer people and "liberal" straight people.

. . . . . can’t get it through their thick, little minds that not every gay guy is a flaming queen.)

What a disgusting, rotten thing to say -- particularly here on this website.

Homophobic comments don't get any worse than what you felt you had to say right there.

So, you think only those you consider to be "butch" should be treated with respect? Is that it?

I will never understand why some JUB members, who otherwise seem intelligent and thoughtful, have said that they missed seeing you here.

The saddest thing about internalized homophobia is that most of you who so obviously suffer it aren't capable of keeping it internal. Repulsive.

Steady on. Charon makes a fair point when he says that in many straight people's eyes, gay men all fit into a camp stereotype. They don't see, or prefer not to accept, that many gay men are more Mr Average than Mr Humphries. That does not imply that there should be differing degrees of respect or anything like that.

Exactly. I think many homophobes buy into the trope of camp queens because it makes it easier to spot 'them'. It would scare the shit out of them if they could see the vast number of 'normal looking' guys that they would never guess were gay.

I think it was Quentin Crisp who said something along the lines of 'if I am so obviously queer then they have the choice of whether to speak to me'

They know they want to suck or get sucked. I was one of them. Practically encouraged to be a gay cocksucker.too many establishments just for that. Dicks always available

Did I say that? No.

That was quite clearly a jab at straight people who, either due to being too lazy, or too stupid (or more likely, both) fail to comprehend that, like any other group of humans, we’re composed of a complex, vast and diverse set of individuals. I would go on, but this discussion has been done to death by this point. The only problem is, like I said, heterosexuals are too fucking dense to get it through that thing on their shoulders they call their head.

Although, to be fair, as you and TickTockMan have pointed out, there’s plenty of LGBTQ+ people who are also just as homophobic and ignorant. I once had to put up with a lesbian co-worker who kept arguing against my homosexuality because, according to her, I didn’t “look” or “act” like a “real gay” does. But she’s a Trump supporter. That pretty much says it all.

Incidentally, I don’t even categorize myself as “butch.” But apparently some people assume I do.

I never had any issues coming out to straight guys; straight guys are always coming to me when they are curious and/or want to experiment. I could write a book with the encounters i had with straight guys.

I don't like telling my coworkers anything personal, but i did deal with a touchy flirty guy at my old job, and people thought we had something going on, and i told them i liked men, and then another straight guy found out and was acting flirty, but nothing ever came out either one.

Lol same here. I am amazed at the amount that have big time flirted with me in private.

Working in an elementary school, especially now. "Just don't push your agenda on my child." My internal monologue goes right to "Well my agenda was going to be to teach him how to read, write, do math, and be a kind person. Instead, I could teach him to be a judgmental bitch who's day drunk at 3pm, but I think you have that covered." Luckily I've got a got a filter.

So how gay are you exactly? It was harmeless but it did make me laugh.

I worked at a club (straight) where all the girls were gorgeous. Because I'm a good looking, straight acting, Latino, their boyfriend were always trying to figure out if I was lying with saying I was gay, some even became mouthy with me because they thought a gay guy couldn't fight, so me throwing down or not would be my "tell" If I was gay or not.

I've been asked when it was that I started feeling physical attraction to men, as if sexual development is different for homosexuals.

I've heard people who come out late in life talk about "realizing" they were gay. No. They've known, they've always known.

Not sure. It's a cultural mold gay men have mostly followed in the second half of the twentieth century.

But in Greece and Turkey it went differently and the most obnoxious Dutch former gay Rockstar, Jan Rot suddenly had a relationship and a baby with a lady.

How come you don't have a girlfriend? :ROFLMAO:
(only said by nosey ladies who pretend they don't know the reason)

Welp...I was asked by my 3 year old great nephew who my girlfriend is about a year or so ago...and he wasn't having it when I told him that his mommy was my favourite girl.

As far as he sees it, my decades long partner is just his other uncle.... :ROFLMAO:

God knows where this is going to go in the future.

My niece calls Russ her uncle. All my family calls us "The Boys." I had a nephew, but I accidentally left him in a supermarket shopping cart. Who knows where he is now.

That's a common phenomenon. Apparently becoming a rock icon is the best conversion therapy. It happened to David Bowie, Lou Reed and Mick Jagger.

And of course...there are all the celebs who suddenly 'discover' that they are 'bi' when their appeal to the teen girl demo is fading and they want to expand their base.
