Things You Miss From Yesteryear?

I miss traditional Holiday meals, tables with fine linen and china. Hams and turkeys served with side dishes of yams and mashed potatoes.
People seated around the table using table manners engaged in pleasant conversation.
Today everything is at some relatives home on paper plates served buffet style, the TV is on with eyes glued to a sporting event, of course no one speaks unless it's about the game. I just love balancing my dinner on my knee as I sit on a sofa.

^^^^Can you ask for a sit-down dinner?

Me, I miss my right foot not swelling. Good days, those.

Also, pay phones. I miss pay phones whenever I leave the house.

We have a sit down dinner every night in our home, so holidays were no exception. I am not a paper plate guy unless it's a picnic or cook out.
We used to host Thanksgiving, then the idea of deep frying turkeys came along, now we spend time out in a drive way cooking a bird at my son's home, from there it's paper plates and find a place to sit.
I admit that the deep fried bird tastes good, but I hate the rest of the experience.

I will never do a deep fried turkey for ANY holiday. I know some swear by it, but not I. My partner..... he's a little less picky, anything I put on a plate in front of him he'll eat. For the most part that is.

One good thing about the bad old days was that you could go to any YMCA in North America and swim naked with dudes of various age demographics. Very innocent which oddly made it even better.

The deep frying thing out in a driveway seems a bit red neck to me, I love smelling a Turkey baking in the oven.

I miss being able to say "sorry I did not get the message" and having them believe me...

I miss open showers after gym and no thoughts on changing in the locker room....

I miss being so young and full of cum I would jack off before a date and still be ready if I got lucky on the date...

Not having an responsibilities at all.

I do hope that your foot gets better, as for asking about a sit down dinner, I would be out voted... seems I am the only one who even thinks about it.

Hell, I prefer the old tried and true method. The flamethrower! Cooks it just right every time.

I remember how proud we were of our country in the 50s and early 60s.

My mum paying for everything.

Blockbusters.

I miss the abundance of simple common sense.

Makes me think of a young lady on Judge Judy tonight. She'd bought a car with the help of her father for $7,000 with $1,700 cash down.

(Paraphrasing)

Judge Judy: "So, you had a loan of fifty-three hundred."

Girl: "No loan. It was financed."

Judge Judy: "The finance company loaned you the rest of the money."

Girl: "There wasn't a loan. We made payment on the car."

A stunned Judge Judy looked at Byrd and he said quietly, "Patience. Patience."

'Common sense' seems to be an alien concept to many younger people these days. When you say 'common sense', they think you're talking about common pennies.

I saw that too. Sadly we have people with less sense than that "lady" right here on JUB.

I miss the times when "Common Sense" was, indeed, Common, unlike Today's "PC" exceptions! :help:

Back THEN, if someone didn't quite "Get It", it was an opportunity for derision, or education, depending on which side of the coin you felt like being on, at the time.

Today? Those who don't quite "Get It" are humored, if not pitied, and given a Blue Ribbon just to make sure Everybody "wins"! ](*,)

We've gotten to the point where we're awarding, and even promoting, "Common Stupidity", for the sake of being overly considerate! :##:

THEN it was, "Grow the Fuck UP!" ..|

NOW it's, "Bless your heart!" #-o

"Flesh" Crayolas.

But seriously, I miss my late mother's excellent cooking. :(

Not much really, but I guess talking on the phone a lot. These days it seems to be all text or email.
