Thinking of Getting into the Adult Industry?

Just some tips as I myself contemplate going into the adult industry sometimes. Exhibitionism is a fascinating thing that nobody talks about and I feel you buddy.

1.Gay porn is not the industry to get yourself into the community and explore your sexuality. Most of the guys in gay porn are straight guys who need to pay their child support and their bodybuilding supplements. The only true gay guys in porn keep to themselves. Also kink gay porn is mostly amateur and non produced. Meaning no mainstream gay porn studio is going to kink. The farthest kink they will do is bareback and toys probably.

2.Escorting\Video camming\Phone-Cyber sex, is a better choice to test the waters. It won't pay as much, but you can be in your own house for any of the internet stuff and you can do all the kink you want. It can also give you an idea of how the industry works as usually porn stars nowadays did start off on the internet doing solo stuff and virtual sex. Phone sex as well can get you far places. Again you can do that in your own house.

With escorting, it's a little more complicated but just sign up in a gay escorting website. You can find them on google. I would suggest going to hotel rooms to be on the safe side.

You can also go on xtube, xhamster, pornhub, and make your own amateur videos to explore yourself which you can you get paid for.

3.If you do want to go into the adult film industry and earn way more, Understand what type of stereotype/role you wish to portray. College guy, twink, cub/bear, muscle stud, guy next door, ethnic, Daddy, Crossdresser, etc. This will help you a lot. Find companies and studios that deal with the type of person you are. Take photos in good quality of yourself and send them to studios and I'm sure they can work with you so you don't have to travel. But it would be wise to live in LA, New york etc. a gay porn area.

4.Good luck finding a job if you decide to leave adult entertainment, regardless if your material was online or offline. Even if it's free videos on xtube or myvidster or xhamster. Even if you did escorting. You'd be surprised at how many snitches and rats that make it their habit and hobby to search online to defame anyone just so they can satisfy their fucked up egos to put another person down. These people are jerks, but they exist so watch out.

I would say any job related to children or the government is out of the question. But you should be fine working for a company that doesn't fall under those guidelines.

5.Consider doing nude performance art for universities. It's nothing sexual, but you get paid for being naked and doing performance art. And none of it gets recorded unless you want it to.

6.Again you don't have to go into porn to explore kink activities. As people have said, try to go online and find groups of people that like whatever kink you have. You might have to travel, but they have gatherings and special events so you can try that.

7.Becoming a softcore shopping mall poster model isn't a bad idea, but good luck.

8.Don't get hooked onto drugs or any illegal activity. The gay sex industry is a gateway for illegal drug use and just watch out.

9.Watch out for STDS and Hiv positive people. Never agree to do any bareback scenes unless you and the person you are performing with took an HIV test that you yourself witness. You really should only do scenes with a condom to be honest. Many, many, performers in gay porn contacted the HIV virus and didn't even know.

10.I'm glad you are taking our advice into consideration. This is a topic not really discussed here ironically that this is a gay porn forum, but it's a taboo job choice. Even deciding to become an actor, model, athlete, musician, politician, are all taboo decisions that usually the general public would rather not get involved or help those interested in. I have faith that you'll be fine with whatever you do in your life.

Stay safe :)

Wasn't attempting to demean your profession with my analogy. I was simply trying to make a point about "objective" information when it comes to fact finding. They alway say "consider the source."

I could've used a plastic surgeon or a real estate agent to make the same point. If I were hesitant about getting a facelift or buying a new home, I doubt either of these people would be totally 'objective' with me.

So... taking advice about anything remotely related to sexuality from someone in the closet would be a "bad" idea then.

Got it.

I don't think your analogy is apt. Yeah, I wouldn't (completely) trust a plastic surgeon about getting a facelift, because that plastic surgeon stood to gain from convincing me to get said facelift. In short, he's got a horse in that race. Does Soil have a horse in the OP's race? Only if he convinces the OP to not only do porn, but to do porn for HIM. And from what I've seen, Soil (and porn in general) isn't exactly hurting for performers. Yeah, new guys who are good at what they do are always welcome, but his answers make it pretty clear he's not exactly giving the OP a hard sell. ("What will it take to get you into this bondage gear this afternoon?")

When I first decided I wanted to get into my chosen field, I met up with a bunch of people in it. I drove across the western US talking to people up and down the food chain. And I think they treated me the same way Soil treats people like the OP. They understand that people are interested in the business, and want to give a clear and accurate picture of what to expect. They don't want people joining the ranks if they're not going to be good at it, or if they're getting into it for the wrong reason (because they won't last long, which will be a waste of everybody's time). I'm happy those people took the time to give me a good idea of what to expect, and after meeting with them, I was happy to join the ranks - now with a much-better idea of what to expect.

This is totally untrue.

• Most gay porn stars are gay. There are a few sites that brag about their "straight guys," but most of the big studios use mostly gay men. I don't use G4P models at all if I can avoid it.

• Google "The Grabby Awards" or just look on Twitter to see that the gay porn stars that are most out and about are the gay ones.

• Kink.com is a massive studio that ONLY does kink content. This past weekend, the studio I work for, Titanmen, won "Best Fetish Movie." We have a whole website dedicated to fetish content called Titan Rough.

2.Escorting\Video camming\Phone-Cyber sex, is a better choice to test the waters. This is mostly true, although I'm not sure about "porn stars nowadays did start off doing solo and virtual sex." That's not been my experience at all.

Again... almost totally accurate except living in LA or New York is totally unnecessary. Any gay porn studio worth workmen for will fly you in and put you up at a hotel or their location.

4.Good luck finding a job if you decide to leave adult entertainment, regardless if your material was online or offline. Even if it's free videos on xtube or myvidster or xhamster. Yes and no. I always talk about how my doctor was a Colt model, Jesse Jackman works IT for a huge company, another Titanmen exclusive works for Facebook... their employers all know, it's not an issue. I know A LOT of porn stars with good jobs that do porn and their employers know... but yes, if you want to work with kids or be president... not a good choice to make porn.

5.Consider doing nude performance art for universities. It's nothing sexual, but you get paid for being naked and doing performance art. And none of it gets recorded unless you want it to.

Yes.

Yes Yes.

8.Don't get hooked onto drugs or any illegal activity. The gay sex industry is a gateway for illegal drug use and just watch out.

No. No more than any other industry. I saw more drug and alcohol abuse when I worked a corporate job. I have quite a few friends who are in drug recovery and only two of them ever did porn.

This should just be common practice for any sexually active adult.

I would argue that he does! Not directly, but indirectly. Based on his sensitivity towards his profession, I don't see him painting the industry in a negative light. As I've said, I can use ANY professional and his/her industry as an example - as I've already done. This isn't about "Soil" (despite his attempts to make it so), this is about a simple point I made concerning objectivity. I've posted more than I care to on this topic, so I'm done. I hope the OP does what right for himself and his love ones.

typical you. drop and bomb and do that "Who me?" thing.

YOU were the one who made it about me and my objectivity.I was VERY clear above that I don't want anyone doing porn if they don't WANT to do porn. It would be a bad experience, the movies would suck and I have nothing to gain from talking someone into doing porn if they don't want to. I also said that in the post I made four years ago. So don't call my objectivity or integrity into question.

I only have something to gain if we're talking about someone who really wants to work for me (he already said he doesn't have the kind of body Colt goes for so he's probably not the kind of man I'd work with, either).

You can try to argue that I have a horse in this race but even you know that's total bullshit.

This isn't about a "simple point you made about objectivity," you made it specifically about me and called my integrity into question.

I agree with what soil said. I'm not sure this is the line of work for you.

However if exhibitionism and kink are what do it for you, maybe look into ways to expand your horizons on those fronts and meet like minded people.

I honestly wouldn't take much of what Jason with much credibility. He seems to make it seem like the adult industry is completely professional and they have extravagant beach parties with catering and stuff but I can almost guarantee a high percentage of people who do porn have trouble finding real jobs when the 15 minutes has come and gone, and look at how many of them suffer from drug addictions and suicide.

If you really want to do it, go for it but think about it long and hard before going through with it. It's gonna be there forever.

Tell us... what actual knowledge and experience do you have in this field?

look at how many of them suffer from drug addictions and suicide.

Yes... compared to the national average... let's look at that. can you list all the gay porn suicides and then correlate that to how many dentists and golf course managers commit suicide? Or... hey... I'll make it easy.... compare it to the national average.

- - - Updated - - -

BTW... I have never claimed an extravagant beach party. I'm not sure where you get that but you're full of shit.

As usual.

Oh but wait... I DID post pictures form our catered dinners and the pool party from my last shoot on my Facebook. Which means... Rexcalibur follows me on Facebook.

OK, that's some weird-ass stalker-like shit, man.... like when Sultan mentioned what colour my house is.

lol I don't have a Facebook you nitwit, but I have seen your youtube page when looking up interviews with porn stars where you act like it's all kikis and fun with porn stars.

Yeah. I'll bet. I never mention catering or pool parties on YouTube but I did mention that recently on Facebook. Dude really. That's some creepy shit.

But let's get back to my previous questions. Can you name a few former porn stars that couldn't get work? Tell us what former porn stars like Morgan Black, Dredd Scott, Kennedy Carter, David Dakota and Francois Sagat are doing now.

Yeah. I'll bet. I never mention catering or pool parties on YouTube but I did mention that recently on Facebook. Dude really. That's some creepy shit.

Oh please, an attention whore like yourself would love getting stalked on Facebook, but again, I don't have a Facebook.

but back to the previous question, porn is a "career" that comes and goes. The ones that do make lots of money and actually take it far are few and far between and quite of few of them have crashed and burned in the process (Jenna, Mr. Marcus, Jeff Palmer, Erik Rhodes, Arpad, etc) , and the others are trading in a quick cash grab for permanent damage of their reputation and future opportunities. I'm sure you'll refute that to the death and as much as you think you're progressive and loved, let's face it, the majority of people in your day to day life think of you as the creepy porn troll, unless they're in the industry as well.

Being in porn will also have an effect on any relationships you might have. Most people don't want to date or marry someone who has video footage of them getting their pie hole pounded. I'm sure that's another thing Jason will deny since he's apparently been in a 20 year relationship and still gets to suck cock on video.

But let's get back to my previous questions. Can you name a few former porn stars that couldn't get work? Tell us what former porn stars like Morgan Black, Dredd Scott, Kennedy Carter, David Dakota and Francois Sagat are doing now.

Nothing. They fell off the face of the earth. Francois is still doing porn and modeling.

Ok so... First, Erik died of a heart attack. He didn't kill himself.

And you're quite wrong about every former porn star I named. They all have rather amazing professional careers now. Francois hasn't done porn for four years. He's now a quite successful fashion designer but he also has an even more successful production company. He models his own stuff since he's still got a name but he also does a lot of runway work in France and a lot of really weird performance art.

Of the guys I listed, one is now a very successful photographer, one is a mechanical engineer who works for a biotech firm, one works for a very big non-profit charity, and one is married and working as a carpenter.

So not "nothing," although they did fall off the porn radar because they wanted to. You are wrong

Clearly you have no idea what you're on about. So thanks. Goodbye.

Oh and... While I don't really care what people think of me... No, most people don't think of me as a "creepy porn troll" because that's not what I am. Most of my friends seldom talk about my porn work because my mainstream work is a lot more interesting and since a good deal of my best friends are fellow bikers, they just think of me as another guy they ride with. Amazingly enough most people don't have your hangups.

Making porn is just my job. I don't honestly talk about it much unless it comes up and it seldom does when there are more interesting things to talk about.

To the OP, if you want to find something to do on the side to bring in extra money, I recommend learning a trade.

For example, a few years ago, I started teaching myself programming. Between the various app stores, last year I made about $8k. Not nearly enough to live on as a standalone income. But it was a nice addition to the income from my full time job.

Once upon a time my bf thought about doing porn for some cash. Then he realized that he could pretty much kiss his future professional career good bye.

Don't get me wrong. I do not disrespect people in porn at all. I think it is a job like anything else. But that's not how most of the world see it. This is another example of fantasy versus real world thing.
