Can you say "stereotyping"?

I've known straight guys who slept like that; there are situations in which humans abandon societally-imposed inhibitions and behave like the mammals we are. Shared danger is one, and if the Marines in Iraq aren't in shared danger, I don't know who is.
I've seen pics sent from Iraq by parents of Marines, of an entire platoon sacked out in the boondocks, a long spooned line like a tightly-packed dinnerware drawer. Unless you want to maintain that gay Marines manage to all get into a single platoon, even, saying that spooning = gay is ridiculous.
When I worked with a Boy Scout troop, there were campouts on which a whole patrol, six or seven teens, slept spooned -- it was snow camping, or high-altitude, and once it was during a horrendous storm that threatened to rip away the tents, so that the physical companionship was a comfort.

When I was in college, guys in the house on road trips often packed four guys in a two-person bed to save on motel costs, too, and spooning was common -- partly because several bodies tightly together in a bed tend to end up in an efficient packing position.

It's a malignancy in modern American culture to view physical contact as contrary to heterosexuality; several generations ago it wasn't regarded as anything unusual.

You don't have to be gay to have sex with another man. It has long been known that, in circumstances where men are separated from the opposite six for too long a time, they will often resort to homosexual contacts for relief. They will often do everything. . . suck and be sucked, fuck and be fucked. It's not uncommon.

However, as soon as circumstances change and they are able to get the female companionship, more often than not, they cease their homosexual behaviour entirely and switch back to heterosexual behaviours.
